  • this year, June 2012, marks the 20th anniversary of "4 New York" (the song/branding). Hopefully they'll bring back the campaign this summer along with a logo change to celebrate.

  • it surprises me how many genres of music were combined into this song

  • I love seeing this. It really sums up NYC. Of course Bloomberg is ruining it. Stupid ass wants this kind of "coming together" and happiness to end in our city. I love New York. :-)

  • wnbc should make an updated version of this for the 2012 summer olympics. (not the 2007 version....that obe is to fast paced. plus there are no nbc chimes at the end)

  • FABULOUS. Really caught alot of the essence of New York City. Each time I watch it, it seems like I can see something new. Great fliming, editing and love the characters used. Wonderful diverse faces of NYC from all over the world. Tune I still have never forgotten, Probably the best TV channel promo I ever saw and they used all of the News Center 4 people as well....

  • LOVE THIS VIDEO AND SONG. RECORDED IT RIGHT FROM TV AT THE TIME....

  • In This Video Clip Of WNBC-TV's We're 4 New York Video Promo From Summer 1992, The WNBC-TV's On-Air Newsteam At The Time, We're In It, And They We're Len Berman, Al Roker, Chuck Scarborough, Dawn Fratangelo, Sue Simmons, Ralph Penza, And Carol Jenkins.

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of WNBC-TV's We're 4 New York Video Promo From Summer 1992.

  • damn, dont change a thing and replay it right now

  • Kalehoff's We're 4 New York and Frank Gari's One for All Campaign Promos are best in the land.

  • nostalgia like a muhfucka!!!

  • Bring this back and updated!

  • @Jerseysson27

    They did.....its called We're For Fife....and it's horrendous haha

  • yep, I was recording the Barcelona Summer Olympics and grabbed this on tape, still have it. Still looking for the ABC promo (We Belong Together) that ran during the 1986 Statue of Liberty 200th. That one as good or better. PS 86th st in Queens IS at the end of LGA runway, hence the really low plane.

  • 2:34 - my favorite part.

  • SKEWWL YARDS WITH CHILDREN! Best ever.

  • As a transplant currently in California, this makes me so homesick. I miss New York.

  • This is really good. News 4 New York should continue using this song.

  • I remember this aired during the Barcelona Summer Olympics.

  • Wasn't that plane flying awfully low?

  • @DerKosmonaut1972

you can go fuck yourself then! this song is awesome!

  • Love the ballet dancer! Ha! Haven't seen this long version (w/ Jerry Seinfeld) in YEARS! Good memories. (well heck ...I'm the ballet dancer...)

  • Just one of the best videos on youtube!!! I Love NY.

  • this may be an old advertisement for NBC4 and NYC herself...BUT today is November 1, 2009...and the ING NYC marathon brought the world to her streets....and not for anything but an American won the mens division..WAY TO GO MEB!

  • I was 5 in 1992, but I do remember this song......it really is catchy!

  • I love this song! ^^

I know I'd heard it 2 years ago, but I wish they'd bring it back for good. ^^

  • now that i see this again, WNBC HAS to bring this back!!

  • they did bring it back in early may of '07.

  • no, i mean this specific version of the song and video

  • ooo. ya that would be cool if they went back to this vesion.

  • 1:30 what does babies have to do with new york, especially the white anglo saxon protestant kind?

  • that baby is a future New Yorker. even though this is from 1992 so that baby is a New Yorker!

  • hey! Len Berman, Al Roker, Sue Simmons, Ralph Penza and i think Michelle Marsh! man, Sue even had tons of energy back then!

  • No Michelle Marsh...........Dawn Fratangelo yes

  • thanks for the correction, and i forgot to mention Chuch Scarborough and Carol Jenkins!

  • lol, your right, i found out Michelle Marsh was at WCBS 2 during this time. so yea, that was Dawn Fratangelo

  • does anyone know where on here where the KSDK St Louis version is?...I remember seeing it on here a few years ago. It is the one the GM put together before heading to NY

  • Scott and Todd in the Morning 0:21

  • Question - Why no footage of the Twin Towers? I know, perhaps they were removed from footage post 9/11, but they're still a part of NYC history, and the video actually draws more attention by NOT showing the towers.

I've never lived in NYC, though I would love to. My boyfriend lived there for 20 years and I know he'd love to go back.

  • Kiyema, There is a 'WNBC 4 New York' version with the Twin Towers presented with an excellent view. Check out the 'WNBC-We're 4 New York-Higher-Quality tvarkofficial video, labeled 3.50 minutes, there you'll see them not once but twice. Hope this helps.

  • 00:43 - How did they find a subway with no grafitti?

  • You're thinking of the 1980's. The Transit Authority eliminated grafitti from trains by like 1989 or 1990, and it probably helps that the trains shown were among the newest in the system at the time of this being filmed.

  • This is such a catchy tune. This promo was when Al Roker was doing the local weather. Look how young Len Berman looked. Still love it! :D

  • This never gets old. Loved it.

  • they got rid of it then brung it back in 2007

  • burbanktvboy, Can you please check the video, as it keeps stopping for no reason? Thanks.

  • Shows better in FireFox.... for me anyways.

  • my dad's in this!! hahaha

  • No one mentions how friggin' catchy this song is. God it's addictive.

  • This version of "We're 4 New York" is good showing the real New York spirit.

    I'm 4 New York

  • Rest in peace Ralph Penza

  • I remeber that promo in the 1992 olympics

  • Recently the new ad's are playing in the Taxi entertainment

network and a quick search found all of those "vintage" versions. I think they are so "New York". Thanks for posting.

I love watching the optimism and fun they portray

    :)

  • The beginning of this promo makes me think of the first scene of Hairspray , "Good Morning Baltimore".The way they show the city waking up is very similar !

  • Maybe Hairspray stole it, or vice versa, lol

  • upload via youtube i guess

  • Where can i send a new version of this song?

  • I remember when this campaign was released it brings a sense of pride to all New Yorkers! It's a catchy ad.

  • However, the campaign wasn't popular with New Yorkers. It was criticized for making the city look like a generic Midwest town. That's no surprise, since the GM of the station came from KSDK in St. Louis, where he made the station NBC's strongest affiliate...and image promos were an integral part of his plans.

  • That's actually a misconception. The campaign wasn't popular with a few New York newspaper columnists and media critics. It worked with the general New York population. The campaign stuck with WNBC a few years and a few new versions made in later years. If it wasn't popular, you wouldn't be seeing these new versions and the station wouldn't be receiving so much positive feedback about the promos.

  • Roger that.

  • Damn i was only 12 when this came out, i hate getting old lol

  • I have been looking for this video online for years now. I remember the entire thing from my childhood. I even remember WNBC selling copies of this back then and always kicked myself for not getting it. Thanks!

  • This is so vital, because our city is stronger and determined to become a city of hope!

  • I too am glad to have found this. Way back when, I had written to WNBC asking how I could get a copy of it, and they never answered me. I'm glad to know that they were selling copies to others, at least!

  • Yes!!! Thank you!

  • Im not from New York but it has that quality that makes everybody love it. I however like the more upbeat version.

  • oh lord yeah i remember this... i still love it and I'M 4 NEW YORK

  • I can write some serious words to this song!!

  • Hmmm those models in the gold frame looks awfully close to the "Friends" image campaign with all the friends in a gold frame. Coincidence? I think not!

  • Love it! I still remember this from when I was 5. RIP Ralph.

  • simply splendid..................very moving

  • Wow, I like this version better. This is actually the close that WNBC used in the 90s.

  • i like it..but the streetguys on the side of the street at the begining version is a bit better.

  • Two things:

    1.) Sue's a nutball (but good at it ;) )

2.) Al can't sing to save his life...

  • Thanks a lot for showing the full version promo for NBC4 IN '92!!!!
