The premise of Lee Dorren's argument is wrong. The Billions of dollars that have been given to Africa have actually resulted in wide-spread corruption in African governments. Most of the aid money has ended up in the hands of bureaucrats who are unaccountable to the people. The nation of Zaire was said to be so corrupt that there was almost no chance of creditors getting their money back if they offered any loans.

I think I bent the definition a little too far on that one. Still, my point is still valid. Gold is only worth something because people believe it is. There is nothing magical about it. You could substitute gold with any other commodity, or as Lincoln did add other commodities into circulation like silver.
The problem gold is that it is like any other commodity subject to manipulation and speculation.

I will fully admit that capitalism is superior to the feudal system. Capitalism has its own set of problems that emerge as the game goes from opening to end game. Asserting that Capitalism is better than feudalism does nothing to address these problems. I will also fully admit that communism and socialism only work at very small scales, certainly nothing as big as a state. There is a need for balance between freedom for individuals and freedom for societies to create social contracts.
