Only downsides I can see revolve around preference. The Sunroof doesn't open on the a5 and s5, it just raises a little. Some might also not like the weight of the car. And the fuel economy can be a little rough depending on the model. But they're world class cars, some may not like their quattro AWD system and prefer a sportier RWD set up. But they win plenty of awards, look great, and I'd never hesitate to put one in my garage. Especially the S5 coupe with a 6 speed manual.
@rarejd I have leased Mercedes and BMWs for the passed number of years and my time for a new car is coming up and I have never had an Audi , and I am looking at the 2010 a5 3.2 ( I wish I can get the s5 ofcourse but money is a factor) . I do think the dashboard is a bit bland though compared to the other german counterparts . Many people disagree with me. What do you think?

But it all comes down to personal preference, and rarely does a car come without flaws (since beauty/flaws are subjective and depend on the person). Drive the car. The a5 doesn't really have any direct competitors from BMW/Mercedes. Not unless you're buying a used upscale model, or a smaller model for the same price.

The engine isn't super fast, but it's definitely got enough torque for the daily grind, and gets great fuel economy. Something to consider, in case you want to spruce up the interior with a prestige package or some carbon/wood trim, or the navi and technology package.
@scethiss no not necessarly...the A5 has different kinds of model....depending wether you chose tiptronic or manual...and some of the models already have the navigation system in it!
It's an optional feature, but all cars get the screen. it just doesn't have a navigational feature if you don't have the package. Look it up on the website.

the only reason the bmw ranked 2nd is because of the handling, and that's about it. in terms of other stuff, it's really no match with the supercharged A6.
Compare to Jaguar or even Lexus, Audi cars just look stale without passion and "got to have it" factor. Colors are so limited, all too Teutonic. I am buying a Jag FX or Lexus GS or LS

The dealership where I purchased it from did that for me, I think they thought being a woman I would just bring it back LOL! Audi was going thru some really tough times in the mid to late eighties with engineering problems (not to mention design), but somehow in the mid 90's when they were just about to pull the plug in USA, they introduced the B5 A4...the rest is pure poetry. I'm a proud owner of a 99.5 A4 with 294,000 miles on the original engine...(the orig tranny died at 293600 due to blown seals). I'm gonna drive this baby to the ground. New A4, here I come !!
No as much as you may expect. The only expenses I incurred were the scheduled maintenance mostly on replacing the water pump , timing belt, oil pump & the occasional tuneups. Now I just have to replace the turbo and I'm set for a while.
i have an 06 A4 and recently spent $600. on a hose and fluid. if something DOES happen, it can be expensive to fix, but I am still in LOVE with my Audi. looking at a Q5 or A5 to add to my collection.

sadly. it's at the shipyard right now waiting to get to the dealer =[ i'm disappointed so i have to wait a couple more days to get into the dealership and then take care of the paperwork, and it's set!
