I was hooked on this film when I was only about 14 years old...I watched it over & over again...I was mesmerised by Béatrice Dalle...lookin back as a 36 year old woman I can't believe it...not the fact that I loved the film but that I was only 14...mind you I was quite wreckless & un tamed myself...now as this 36 year old I can only wish that I was her again!
I remember this movie as yet another 'sexy woman getting away with being psycho and destructive only because she is physically attractive' films. Ugh.
My favourite French film of all time. Incredibly beautiful, sexy, yet tragic .A work of art. Beatrice Dalle and Jean Hugues Anglade are amazing in this. I love Beatrice Dalle's presence on screen, she's so naturally sexy, sensual and pouty in that very French way and plays that sort of wild spirit so wonderfully.
incredible movie, french cinema was outstanding in the 80's and early 90's, so refreshing from the action packed world that was hollywood in the arnold and stallone era.
this movie is simply awesome a love story slowly spiraling into madnes gabriel yareds soundtrack outstanding have watched this movie countless times still entertaing.
Well, you will have your chance in about a week. The unrated directors cut(that means the 3hr version and not the 2hr one) is being re-released on DVD on 11-17-09. From what I have seen on places like Amazon, it's the same DVD that I bought years ago. I think the movie is good, but I don't think it's as fantastic as some others here feel. You wont know how much you like it till you see it... ;-)
Yeah, i knew the name of the movie for years and finally I watched it on ARTE. Actually I don't like love movies, but this one was extraordinary. Great actors and atmosphere.
And like you I will see the directors cut now and will invite some freinds to watch it with me.
Amo de paixao esta historia de amor , vi a mais ou menos vinte anos atraz em Curitiba , num cinema bem pequeno , que basicamente exibia filmes europeus, adoro cinema europeu , que bom que estao relançando um filme come este , arrazou.

The French have their fair share of bombs and pretentious crap but this is memorable and intense.

The book is a lot darker (her descent into madness). The movie omits a whole sequence where she steals a young child.
