This was the jam way back in the day! It's kind of strange that until 3 years later mainstream radio listeners recognized his talent with the cut "Caribbean Queen", because this song SMOKED dance floors at every party I went to in 1981 and I think this was one of his best he ever unveiled. Weird how it never really took off in Top 40 radio?
@Jacbill63 True dat Jac! Those of us who recognize good music understood how funky this song was. I remember when I found out this was Billy Ocean! :-) R&B radio played da hell out of dis song! And yes, this was his best song! Way better than Caribbean Queen!
classic material and it seems a couple of other songs were inspired by the rhythm of this track! inspire each other and continue to inspire each other!
Keep it up with the "Boogie Man" so that the public will be happy when government takes away our rights! Enough of this nonsense. Other countries have dealt with terrorism for years yet they don't act like scared monkies like the US and NYC do.
@kdemonde AInt that the truth... we all jammed BIG TIME to this joint...ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS YA FEEL LIKE GETTIN DOWN.. NYC BABY! Life was so easier back then.. music life ingeneral held more substance..less drama IMO! NYC.. we will never witness such GR8NESS ever again!Port
@port2344chester I absolutely agree Port! back then all we had were cassettes and the radio, winter was cold as hell and the summer was hot hot hot! Less population in NYC! less complications in NYC! Listening to alot of up-tempo music during the day and then "The Quiet Storm" and "Kissing After Dark" at night.. Yvonne Mobley!! and Von Harper! and can't forget Champagne! LOL! we can't go back but we will both have and share the memories! Thanks... K
