  • SPORTS CARTOON!!! No wayyyy.

  • I used to LOVE sparkle crest toothpaste. Bubblegum flavored toothpaste could not be beat. Then they had the orange and hawaiian punch flavors :D ..The thought of using those now turns my stomach

  • The Shaolin Hippo. LOL!

I love that cartoon! That was so funny.

  • I LIKED CLASSICS

  • I used to love those sports cartoons. The little cat always cracks me up

  • @poohebar83 me too. idk what made him think he could beat up that hippo. lol

  • 3:39 rip off of lego's

  • @sygo7g The Bosko and Buddy material is very unique - they represent the primordial soup of sight gags, musical cues, and edginess that flavored the later 'Golden Era'. I think Freleng hits the earliest stride as an animator on Freddy The Freshman in '32.

  • @sygo7g : Right -- it's pre-Porky (and pre-Blanc) coming out of the drum with the sign off - so '36 is a good guess. This was the only one I saw like this. The rest had a character that looked like a court jester holding a banner reading 'Vitaphone' and reciting: "That's all folks."

When they asked me what cartoons I would recommend they get from Warners I said: "Everything Clampett and Avery."

  • @sgkolodny1 At 7:52 it says 1932 on the Bosko title card.

  • i never knew that looney toons were on nick

  • 7:41 is the filming of the movie Roadhouse.

  • what is that cartoons name where was something like monkey whit very long tail?

    write to me pllease

  • OMG - I am the guy who built that Looney Tunes ending. I came up with the idea to key a 'That's All Folks' from an old cartoon where it existed as white over black - maybe Buddy cartoon? - over the concentric circles that Nickelodeon provided. We had to get clearance from Warner's.

  • I remember Flexi-blocks, but not that commercial. I remember one that began with a caveboy.

  • he is so happy those sticks of dynamite said "The End" as much as he falls and blow up I would be too 0:00

  • HOLY SHIT! I forgot all about those "SPORTS CARTOONS".... FLASHBACK to 20 years ago in 5 seconds! =)

  • OMG!!! The sports cartoon thing with the cat and hippo!! I totally forgot that existed! Good god, now this is nostalgia! I need to watch the rest of the shorts for that! I remembered it as I saw it. Back when TV was worth watching.

WOW, EVEN THIS ALPHABITS COMMERCIAL! I REMEMBER IT, EVEN THE PARTS THAT WERE CUT OFF AND THE CREST COMMERCIAL! Wow...Flexiblock! I remember this commercial too! lol

  • wtf!!! not on cartoon network.

  • @sdfzgdshytrdh Cartoon Network wouldn't debut for another year or so.

  • Those were the days! I wish I could have them all back!

  • This is old...I was 10 and 11 respectively when these came out. I enjoyed Nick and Nite.... Those old Bosko Cartoons are almost 80 years old now!

  • thats awesome

  • It was great to be 8 years old again, if only for a few minutes :) It just feels like the personalization of watching most TV channels today, this one in particular, has completely disappeared. Very sad.

  • I'm shedding tears...

  • Ah Nickelodeon was the stuff back in the Eighties. I know tastes change but we can't be too stupid to enjoy good TV. I remember the intro where the sleepy cartoonist (in B/W cartoon) yawned and said he was tired. I would be watching that at 1AM when I got tired of doing history homework for college.

  • Damn I tried to order those Flexi-blocks but the number didn't work anymore haha it was a collections agency! DAMN!

  • OMG traveling down memory lane... not the cartoon itself but those commercials!!

  • Yes!!!!!! that Hippo and the Cat shorts were awesome...sigh nick used to be so good..i'm glad i was a kid then instead of now

  • I wish I had been old enough to appreciate coneheads when it was out

  • Wow - the good old days!

  • Geez, those Workers of the World party people were right!

They predicted that companies were going to exploit Russia after they became a republic.

  • man waht is wrong wiht the station now.

  • @leakesonasucs it's a combo of us getting older and the crap preteen shows they air now. I like to think it's the shows. I feel sorry for the younger generations being so deprived. anyone agree?

  • @asianwannabeamerican VERY MUCH SO... THEY NEVER GET TO BE CHILDREN NOW...... KINDA FEEL RESPONSIBLE EVEN THOUGH I DON'T HAVE KIDS....

  • I love that karate cartoon is so cute and music for Tonight on TV Land Nick at nite.

I miss the good old days. I love how the karate commericals goes right into ther Alpha bet commeriial. without even having an ending to the karate thing. :P

  • I remember those Fleixblocks commericals. This brings back so many memories. Why is it that others who grew up watching Nick back then hate when you talk about stuff back in the day? I have a freind who loved Nickelodeon back in the day now anytime i mention a certain show or commerical he tells me, "You live in the past." It really makes me mad. I miss all these shows i used to watch. He on the other hand just makes me fell like who cares what we grew up watching. Watch what's on TV now.

  • OMg when i was very little. I remebred my dad playing paper boy.

  • I was only 3 when this aired. But it was olden. I didnt' even Know Nick at nite use to be called TV Land. before TV land became it's own network.

  • Well, I wasn't around in the 50's. But variations of the phrase "Hello out there in TV land" date back at least as early as the 50s. N@N, at first, made reference to that phrase.

  • I was only 3 when this aired. Nivck at nite use to be called TV Land?

  • yup, I used to watch Mr Ed, Donna Reed, Laugh In, my three sons, and some others

back when TV was GOOD, now Nick just plain SUCKS.

  • Actually No.

Nick At Nite has always been Nick At NIte.

I don't know for sure, but I think they may have imported a few shows or something.

But as far as I know, They were never called TV Land

  • you are correct sir :)

  • nick does suc

  • Comment removed

  • flexy blocks holy shit balls!!!

  • what is that the cheap knock-off of Legos?

  • I remember seeing 'Shamrock and Roll" a long time ago on Cartoon Network. I remember Merlin and that leprechaun in it, but not the plot.

  • well you're in luck, it's on YouTube now

  • Well, somebody on youtube has done it again! That is, popped another memory into my head with sports cartoons, I remember seeing those. Thanx for posting!

  • lol

  • we have basic cable, and i lost Tv Land yesterday.

  • In the1980s and 1990s, it seems as if most of cable television was engulfed in some degree of campy nostalgia. Was it the effect of Nickelodeon? One could watch Gilligan's Island and films like 'The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T' on TNT; or episodes of Happy Days and The Brady Bunch on TBS. Sigh, even The Facts of Life was airing on USA, between showings of that Up All Night film series.

  • flexiblocks were a lot for back in the day lol I also remember when they upgraded them lol Glow in the dark baby!!!! Another thing nick jr,Nickelodeon, snick and Nick at nite all kicked so much behind then...

  • About the first thing you said, you're thinking of Better Blocks, another as-seen-on-TV building toy from ca. 1993.

  • Crest sparkle was kickass! Remember the star shaped ones, when your would squeeze it on your toothbrush it was in a shape of a star! WHY DONT THAT HAVE THIS ANYMORE????

  • The hippo rocks!

  • just when i thought i remembered everything! I totally forgot about this....i agree with you they did rock!

  • I use 2 have Paperboy NES.

  • Me too.

  • Still have mine ; )

  • I don't get it.... Nickelodeon gets so many complaints from their old fans... I used to love nickelodeon.. It was the best channel in the 90s aside from Kids WB and Cartoon Network..

And all of those channels are getting bad rep now... so why aren't they doing anything about it?

I guess money means more to them then the viewers.

  • Ahh...classic nick, i miss it so much...

  • one lucky duck is alive!!

  • The hippo/cat sports cartoons! I forgot all about those.

  • They use to call Nick at Nite. TV land wow. and now it has it's own channel since 1996. I was 4 in 1996.

  • I didn't know that either.

  • I have 2 Looney Tune spotlight collection DVD. Volume 2 and 5.

  • 1:12 LOL That cartoon is so cute.

  • Nickeldoeon wasway better back then. airing Warner Bros. Cartoons, Mork & Mindy, Yogi Bear. The Smurfs.

and Garfield & Friends, Tiny Toons.

Now they just air scrappy shows.

Like icarly and Drake & Josh.

  • I agree with you, jt62786. it's betetr than Having Geroge Lopez, Home Improtvement and Fanmmily Matters. which i hate then all.

  • @jt62786 i know right fukin big time rush

  • @jt62786 I like iCarly; Big Time Rush can suck it though.

  • @jt62786 i thought all of that was on cartoonnetwork

  • I always thought this theme song was crazy but these were the good old days! Nickelodeon was so much better back then!

  • retenipeer I haveI wish Nick at nite was still liek it was in the early 90's with Green acres, Mr. Ed and I Love Lucy.

and I thought TV Land came out in 1996.

    27:20

  • I love flexiblocks, I used to have the ones that came in the shape of teddy bears.

  • Wow this brings back so many memories, nick used to be so good with a bit of something for everybody. Children today have no idea what they are missing.

  • I haven't seen those "Sports Cartoons" in over 10 years. Thanks for bringing back great memories!

  • The Nick at Nite "Tonite" bumper(seen at 0:12) was the alternative 1985 tonite schedule for Nick at Nite as they used the slogan "From TV Land!" right under the tonite flasher. The original tonite bumper had the Tonite flasher, then a list of the programs that were gettting ready to be seen on Nick at Nite.
