@Sunflower0122Z I just recently converted to CD a master cassette of the soundboard for that10/23/83 show at the Carrier Dome. Yes it is most excellent The Band 10/22/83 Rag Mama Rag Long Black Veil The Shape I'm In It Makes No Difference Milk Cow Boogie King Harvest (Has Surely Come) Up On Cripple Creek You Don't Know Me Stage Fright Caledonia Genetic Method > Chest Fever I Don't Want To Hang Up My Rock & Roll Shoes The Weight Willie & Hand Jive Rivers of Babylon
@200445peter Richard Manuel died on May 4, 1886 after a show at the Cheek to Cheek Lounge in Winter Park, Florida. He was Forty-Two. Rest In Peace, you'll forever be, in my opinion, one of, if not The Greatest Vocalist to emerge into this crazy world. "Spend it all".
@DonVerduci March 4th 1986, I was with him on Sunday the 2nd. The show in Winter Park was on Monday the 3rd and he died at some point after midnight the 4th
@Wharfomatic Really? Wow, I was just going by the Discography and notes made in Greil Marcus' book "Mystery Train". He mentions May 4th, but if your sure then I appreciate your response.
What could the two douche bags who gave this a thumbs down possibly not like? Maybe that Robbie was in a snit and not involved? I love Rick's little dance, man, voice and bass become one. I know Robbie wrote most of the Band's great songs, but without the other guys' performances, it would not have been The Band.
I am almost certain this is from their reunion concert in Vancouver, 1983, hence the flags. I could be wrong, yet nevertheless a great, great vocal performance by Mr. Danko. The Last Waltz version of this is probably the best live performance of any song by any band ive ever heard and seen . . . .
Have you seen Levon Helm acting in Tommy Lee Jones' Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada by the way? Check it out, it is a good movie (but Levon is not very fortunate there. And blind...)
By that time, Danko was very ill, from diabetes and weight gain (and years of alcohol/drug use). He died in 1999 of a heart attack- one of two great North American roots-rockers to die that year, also of a heart condition (the other was Doug Sahm).
good version

Yeah I agree. On other vids from him from 1997 or so he didn't sound that good any more. Why?
