That might be right for other strength sports, but in elite olympic weightlifting you´r an old man if you´r older than 30. Most elite Athletes peak between 25 and 30 years of age. Consider that you need not only strength, but a high degree of speed and mental strength. It´´s also nescessary to start at very early age to become a high level lifter. At 30 they might have already gone through 20 years of mentally and physically exhausting training and can´t or won´t go on anymore.
@eminence18 Yeah this kind of movement is totally not useful. Why in the hell would I ever want to build strength, power and speed. Why would I want to workout every single muscle in my body in one motion. Why would I want to go to the Olympics and have people adore me for doing this lift. Why would I want to train a movement that has carryover to EVERYTHING. Duhhhhhh I must be....stuuuupid. I is gonz doo sum reserch nxt tyme. Tanks bud!
@KingHenryXI I didn't say you see no need for it, I said I did. I actually know about muscle building and weight training and their are thousands of exercises you can do that doesn't put this much strain on a body. If you like to max out all the time and put unnecessary stress on your body then do so. If you knew more about it you would know that you shouldn't do this heavy lift before and after a certain age. And judging by your childish defensive remarks you are probably not old enough
@eminence18 In case you weren't aware, those thousands of other exercises work on the principle of Specific Adaptaion to Imposed Demands. If you want to get bigger/ stronger, you NEED to impose STRESS.
As for not training heavy all the time, you demonstrate more ignorance. All, and I mean all successful weightlifters (olympic or power), train at, or near their maximum efforts regularly. If they didn't, (except light days) they wouldn't get stronger. They would get bigger until they peak.
@eminence18 And as for your age argument, I didn't know that the cells of a 12 year old and the cells of a 24 year old were different. I also didn't know that the cells of a 55 year old, were different from those of a 24 year old.
Where are you getting your facts from? Your basis for argument?
@eminence18 I'm also making those remarks because I'm in a pretty joking mood, and I'm a pretty joking person. Just because I can make jokes and am confident in my factually based, empirically credible knowledge, doesn't mean I'm childish.
@kickdim wow another person who starts what they write by saying 'wow'. what ever I'm wrong about I take back and apologize. I personally don't like this exercise.
I took this on my camera while we were in China visiting this training center. The coach is in charge on the boys team at this facility in Zhu Hai China.

@m5p944 In powerlifting, you're right. But in weightlifting, it is basically just like with sprinters. Peak around 28 y/o.

ErNBuRn1 3 years ago
bar = 20kg
2 yellows = 30kg
2 blues = 40kg
2 greens (yes, not blues) = 20kg
4 5kg = 20kg
20 + 30 + 40 + 20 + 20 = 130!
Sarge343 3 years ago
alright that makes sense, i guess those plates are discolored or w/e still amazing strength tho
