  • to all you lot bitching he probably kept it simple by using an adapted bell housing for an early ford rwd gearbox , you can get things custom made and why not stick out from the crowd do a b16 , nice work mate thumbs up from me :) !

  • The point of this video is that we don't have the slightest idea how they pulled this trick off. There's quite a few things to consider like the camshaft realignment and firing order. Waterpump will also need to be replaced. Then you gotta figure out how to adapt the engine to your transmission.

  • hondas and volkswagen engines (atleast the older ones, and probably porsches) run the wrong direction

  • no really, what's the point of that ??

  • whats the point of this

  • i love the way the motor sets in there stright i wonder what trans did you us and is there any why to set main in my eg like that but still be fwd

  • how you cna make the oil pump work?

  • Honda engine in an Escort, now RWD, running backwards? You just wanted to be different, didn't you?

  • sick all motor... nice itb's too

  • It is possible to do this an the answer of why do it its the same reason of putting a 454 big block into an integra CAUSE HE CAN. So to the people bitching leave the man alone it is running backwards. Now that's out of the way good job man nicely done thumbs up.

  • Custom cams, plug in the plug wires differently, and connect the starter backwards? Is it that simple?

  • i would stoop to a chevy in a ford is low but really a honda in a ford is just showing you suck, a lnf from a cobalt would have been a better choice

  • what a boss... haha

  • how did you do it lol

  • All that room, why you no turbo?

  • @rvandell2 Not big car... Small engine! (Four Lions) lol

  • idiots the engine is not running backwards it is just turned at a 90 so that it can be fashioned with a different non transaxle transmission and converted to rwd.

  • @lidzykelly87 really? as if 90% of the guys in here didn't already know that.

  • @canthony1019 actually your both wrong.... in order to do this you have to run the engine in the opposite direction. If youve never seen this before and know nothing about the subject how about you just dont open your mouth. There's also a guy here on youtube that had to reverse the rotation of a b16 that he put in his bug so his rear mounted engine would work properly. There is ONE exception.... there is a reverse rotating transmission that can work with the honda b series and this isn't that.

  • @mikethecollector you're an idiot..

  • @canthony1019 im the one that ACTUALLY understands what this guy did to make the car run like that. Im the one with a honda in the process of doing this. Your a name calling bigot whos completely ignorant to the subject at hand and opens his mouth about something he knows nothing about. Its not hard to reverse the rotation of a motor. Honda b series runs counter clockwise, in order to have an inline motor you have to have a clockwise running motor. Its stated in the title you internet warrior

  • @mikethecollector lol, you're calling me an internet warrior but you're the only one out of the 232 comments who seems to think it's running backwards....... not to mention the pointless name calling on the interwebz... get a life dude.

  • @canthony1019 The proof is in the video and you need to not put misinformation here. Look at the belt you can see the engine is running clockwise.... these engines run counter clockwise so go do some research. I know its running backwards. Only reason why Im fighting the point is because I'm correcting the misinformation so people don't allow your ignorance to impact their builds and cost them thousands of dollars extra to get this stuff done. I have a life and building cars is a huge part of it

  • @mikethecollector mmk if you say so :)

    I LOVE YOU!

  • @canthony1019 I love you too... you were right about the direction of this motor, its not reversed, too much reving not enough idle to tell what direction it was truly going until i took a closer look. Now im going to find a build thread for this car and see exactly what he did which is most likely use a gforce transmission to correct the rotation so he doesnt have to drive forward while in reverse

  • @mikethecollector ok man whoever is giving you info on motors are idoits. if you know anything about shooting video of anything that is rotating at any kind of speed then you know that it can appear to change direction just watch some on board F1 videos and you will see the lettering on the tires change direction and appear to be going backwards. yes it may be possible to make an engine run in the reverse rotation that it was designed but why do this when all you have to do is flip the diff

  • Comment removed

  • @lidzykelly87 at idle you can tell the true direction and i know all about the optical illusion im not new to this. however at idle this is actually going counterclockwise like normal so i was wrong. yes you can flip the diff and it solves the problem but you still need to use a dogbox transmission in order for that to work properly

  • @mikethecollector alright man if you can tell the direction at idle then tell me this why is the belt moving clockwise while the cam gears are moving counter clockwise??? ill tell you why because the belt is showing the actual direction (clockwise) the motor is spinning while ur dumb ass is looking at the cam gears which appear to be moving counter clockwies due to the illusion that the camera is creating. watch the lettering on the belt and you will see dumb ass.

  • @lidzykelly87 ugh now youve allowed the optical illusion to trick you but whatever. you seriously need to stop talking out of your ass.... b series run counter clockwise and not all motors run the same direction.... how about you go do the research that ive been advocating this whole time. have fun not learning anything and being stubborn. im done replying because your taking it all personal rather than a learning experience.... you seriously must have an IQ of 70.

  • @mikethecollector all engines that are in any vehicle spin in a clockwise direction jackass

  • @lidzykelly87 * except boat motors.....

  • @lidzykelly87 they are moving clockwise on this engine jackass......

  • @lidzykelly87 You're a total retard, only K, R, J and L series hybrid engines spin clockwise in Hondas, the older B, D, H and F (minus S2k F20C) spin counter clockwise. All you have to do is go pull the valve cover from one of the older engines and bump the starter to see. There's a reason why you cannot mate a 6spd K series transmission to the older H engine even though they share design similarities. You'd have 6 reverse gears and 1 forward.

  • @minilogoguy18 wouldn't you just have to mate the correct tranny?

  • @hernandadmx That's exactly what he said.... That you need the correct transmission...

  • What is this a Toyota 4AGE? Lol

  • some one explain the proses or a link or something

  • Its koo

  • so does this mean it has torque now?

  • Center those washers under the cam bolts please. lol

  • Why would you put that in a Ford Escort?... I feel sick...

  • @koalatoday If showed rest of FWD car converted to as a American V8 RWD small car,it would be lot better than factory made, oldschoolers dont like Sidewinder Modified motorcycle engines made as a TOY-ota wannabe, anyone see video of that Smart Car that got hotrodded? O_o Now theres something Y'all dont see everyday over here in the states!

  • It's running 90 degree rotation. Not "reverse rotation". It's impossible for an engine to run opposite of it's designed rotation. Every internally rotating part, would need to be modified, and most likely have to be custom made, for this to be a reverse rotation engine. Just so people realize that doing so would take more effort and money than the gains would be worth. What is possible is rotating the engine 90 degrees.

  • @freshgreenapple Its not imposible dude its as easy as making sure your oil pump can supply pressure driven the opposite way (which by looking at it i'm some what sure it can), making the timing belt apply tension the opposite way, either custom ground cams or somehow cutting the front part of the cam where the gear goes. induction heat it and weld them to the other side. keeping in mind that u need to make sure what side of the cam has the lift ramp, and what side has the closing ramps.

  • @Markitos203

Don't talk out of your ass man. B and D series engines have been reversed in the past. Chevy V6's and V8's are reversed in boat applications where one engine spins clockwise and the other counter clockwise to run the prop gear drive. It requires a reverse ground cam, the oil pump will work backwards, the tensioner assembly is switched(usually the biggest fab part) and the pistons are installed facing the other way due to the pin offset so they don't slap.

  • @Pro60modman um, i guess u didn't see my other post where i explain the same thing to an other user.

  • @Markitos203

You didn't really explain it right though. Why do the cams need to be welded and modified? Take a blank cam and cut it backward. I had BC cut me a reverse rotation D16 cam for $350. Just their off the shelf stg 2 boost cam cut in reverse. It literally takes less than $700 to reverse rotate a honda engine if you can rebuild the engine yourself.

  • @freshgreenapple but in my honest opinion and because i always keep it simple, I think the video is inverted to make us think he is reverse rotation. Because if i where to spend 9000 dollars on a dog engage sequential like the ones they use, I don't go on spending ~2500ish (my simple way) in to reversing my engine when the dog engage ment is by-directional and it doesn't care which way it spins. then i just flip my pumpkin and install and oil cooler to lubricate her upside down and that's it.

  • @freshgreenapple it is obviously spinning clockwise

  • @freshgreenapple wrong, it only takes $700 to reverse the direction of a honda b series if you can assemble it yourself. You need a new crank and new cams cut the opposite direction, as well as reversing the tensioner.

  • pero pelotudo mostra q es un escort bobo

  • That looks so pretty

  • very clean work . awsome idea

  • that engine spins clockwise so no and no

  • This is actually something I've always thought of and finally got to see done. Great job!

  • Nice swap. What transmission you wear?

  • does it have the flux capacitor ???

  • true... whatever floats your boat. glad you know what a good motor is though :]

  • Most of the parts to make it run backwards are simple to make or find yourself youll know what I mean if you have a b16 in front of you as for a transmission I dont know

  • Whats the purpose of reversing the rotation??? Besides being diff from all other b16s?

  • How do you make it run backwords?

  • @HeyMan096 Backwards*

  • nice.. good thing it didnt catch on fire.... fuel leak from lines at 0:15 - 0:18..

  • @Blaze01001 should of started on fire motor has a weird cling to it

  • @Blaze01001 you noob, thats the throttle

  • So where do you get needed parts to make this happen would really like to know

  • Its actually very simple just flip cam timing 180 degrees and spark timing 180 degrees. Use a standard type starter and a timing belt tensioner that will work with the reverse rotation. You also have to rotate crank and cam sensors 180 degrees. Hes running a standalone ems so you can work around the sensors.

  • how did u convert this from front wheel drive motor to rear wheel drive

  • how is it running backwards i mean like if you were to spin the motor so u could read the vtec logo the intake would be by the firewall like it usually is some1 enlghten me

  • it is reverse, all honda motors from factory rotate toward the front, the front of this motor is the header side, so if you look at the tensioner, it is being used on the front side which helps this engine, along with many other things, to rotate opposite of factory.

  • what motor is this car in

  • Comment removed

  • @jaymaster774 Well i don't know what car is inside this motor but i do know this B16 is in a Ford Escort.

  • it´s is no blirs xuguer heheehehe

  • why is this reverse rotation? you mean the motor was rotated to correct direction and powered the rear wheels

  • its not running in reverse... if it was it would still be powering the front wheels.

Its running 90deg to the rear.

  • why not? Michael Jackson can Walk backwards, so why engine can't run backwards?

  • @yanimaya in theory any motor can run backwards you would just have to change the spark/cam timing and boom its backwards i just dont see how this one is backwards

  • @guccamain because it used to rotate counter-clockwise, now it rotates clock-wise - which enables the whole engine to be rotated from a transverse arrangement (FWD) to a longitudinal arrangement (RWD).

  • @GoneBadKiwi ok but isnt the belts usually on the left (driver side usdm) so the exhaust would be in the front or did you switch them? like swapped cam timing and switched exhaust and intake sides

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • can i do this in my miata, too? O.o

  • so rear wheel drive means it's running backwards now?

everything I've ever learned is a lie!

  • @jdmfreak921 Lol, true

  • gotta love rattle

  • that just doesn't look right.

  • does your odometer run backwards? does your clock run backwards? omg can your car travel back in time?

  • Mate read the info it says ford escort.

  • hi but what is the car ????

  • That's crazy its running clock wise and not counter clock wise.

  • gotta love those individual throttle bodys

  • i wonder what would happen if i put some coins in the intake... no air filter? GTFO

  • @BadAssEngineering well they would go into the engine, how often do coins go into youre cars engine bay area?

  • @RoverMini94 i know what would happen: its rethorical, what i mean is that air filters are a very needed thing to add to your engine, i wouldnt run mine just open like his

  • @BadAssEngineering wonder what happens if i put sugar in the gas tank no sugar filter gtfo

  • instead of making the engine turning in the opposite direction...

  • why dont you used a reversible differential ?????

  • whaaaaaaaa?????

  • HOW??????

  • @rotarycorvette1 more like WHY!!!!??????

  • @redwoodadf probably cause its gone from a fwd to a rwd car

  • what exactly does reverse rotation do anyway?

  • @RauL8604 On a honda engine by making it run backwards allows it to become rear wheel drive

  • @kevo2884 wow I never knew that, thank you!

  • @kevo2884 are u serious? i wanna run rwd on mines how?

  • @kevo2884 If those rear wheels aint burning thier wide tires, nobody is going to believe its RWD.....Even the 1960's Batmobile had a trick scene whre the real wheels *LOOKED LIKE* they were smoking rubber, until people noticed that smoke didnt collect around tires and rear fenderwells, the fake burnout smoke came from under the car-not the wheels

  • I was wondering about doing this in a 1st gen Rx7

  • propulsion

  • just like the a86 setup pretty sweet

  • all we see it running....go take that bitch for a RIDE!

  • Ithink is optic erro becuz the frquancy changes you see this way also if you are driving and see the car next to you when the frequancy sink with your car speed then see the weele going backword but in reality the weels goining the same drictions they called optic elushan may be wrong spelling sorry.

  • i love that idea reverse the b series but in an escort brro that i dont understand fords r shit

  • i use the eaxact same motor for my

    grass cutter

  • @aLex0kain lol you backyard got to look like shiit

  • @aLex0kain I have the exact same grammar except for my 9 year old kid.

  • Beginning in 2000, Honda began to produce clockwise engines designed to replace the older ones, and by 2005, all American-made Honda engines were spinning in a clockwise direction.Overall, there is no difference in the performance of the two engines. However, if you have to replace an engine, you cannot replace a counterclockwise version with a clockwise one, or vice-versa, unless you also change the transmission at the same time.

  • Engines with reverse or counterclockwise rotation are rather rare in the automobile world. There is no scientific reason why a clockwise-rotating engine has become the norm. Most likely, this occurrence is just a result of standard convention. In regard to the use of a reverse-rotation engine, the main user is Honda. For many years, this Japanese car manufacturer has made a four-cylinder, reverse-rotation engine that was installed in the rear of their smaller vehicles.

  • why would you run it in opposite direction? I've never come across that before let me know.

  • fooled me for a second! lol it apears to be a Zetec engine with a custom valve cover. obviously to look like a vtec B series =P i love it! id like to do that to mine but in the opposite direction ;) making a vtec head look like a nonvtec :)

  • maybe it's a SR20Dett engine but has a honda vtec engine cover lol

  • @Az0ngl33 sr20det has intake on passenger side and exhaust on driver side in RWD configuration. In FWD configuration it is setup with exhaust front, intake in back, and timing/front of engine on passenger side.

  • what transmission bolts to this???

  • is there any benefit to doin this?

  • @tnaglassworks so you can run a rwd gearbox

  • @jordanr1504 got it, thanks man

  • But why?

  • @jackal575 so you can run a rwd gearbox

  • this is awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • Cool job. Used to wonder if anyone ever tryed this.. What tranny did you use?

  • @xstr33tr4cerx hate to be the one to break it to you but most honda motors dont turn clockwise a well know unique feature for honda

  • wtf? clearly if it was reverse, the header and the intake would have to be on the opposite side

  • @jdmcivicsir2 no it wouldnt it would still have the same flow of intake compression ignition and exhaust just reverseing the spark plug wires oppisite of how they should be #1 near the belt stock, reverse #1 near the distributor

  • So what's the point of this?

  • i wonder what kind of tranny or tranny adaptor plate their running...

  • Any who.. euromsport your setup is really clean..

  • Why does every Stankstang hate so much on the 4 Bangers.. must be because they get spanked on every road that has a curve... I say.. all Domestics car only run great straight forward.. But as soon as a curve comes up.. they get all Loose and shit them self.. I know I A fully built Frank 5Sgze in a Celica does the trick...

  • Nice @ss engine bay!

  • 2JZ style! hahaha

  • Timing belt cover?? There's a reason it was put there to begin with

  • @cavibird2005 What about the intake? Should the bonnet have been closed? That's there for a reason, too.

Something tells me the belt cover is off for a reason, what with the video title and all... With the intake plenum / filter on, you don't get that ITB phasing (to answer my own question). Showing the engine off is not the same as driving it.

Anyway, this is a cool vid. I wonder how much of the internals are stock.

  • I like :D - and I don't care for cars so much :)

  • Wouldn't that make it RWD now?

  • lol this is not running reverse it still turns clockwise

  • @xstr33tr4cerx clockwise is reverse most engines run counter clockwise

  • @crazygamer896 lol your really really dumb bro i fucking work on cars for a living and they turn clockwise if you had it going counter you put is in 1st itll go reverse plz plz stop tuning cars before you get hurt cause you dont know what your talking about

  • @xstr33tr4cerx it depends which end you are looking at from the flywheel side it turns clockwise from the belt/pulley side it turns counter clockwise. Its a bit of a mindfuck but makes sense. Also some diesel and marine engines run backwards so nobodys "Dumb" or wrong its a matter of perspective.

  • @xstr33tr4cerx The engine is turning the opposite direction it did stock.

  • @pdgeman no it's not dumbass if it was exhast would be coming out of the itbs damn you people are dumb the engine is just facing foreward that's it no directional change in how the motor is turning

  • @xstr33tr4cerx You're the idiot if you believe it couldn't run backwards without switching the intake / exhaust... It's all in the cams.

  • @pdgeman it is reverse rotation a b16 engine has the timing belt on the driver side intake near the firewall and exhaust to the frnt look at the timing belt its opposite of how it should be it is running reverse rotation so it can propel the car forward in the proper gear you can easily start an engine reverse with a factory 5 speed car push it forward while having it in reverse and dump the clutch the only gear you will be able to go forward in is reverse not good to do though w/o setup

  • @pdgeman its not in the cams it is the firing order it has been reversed so has the timing belt as you can see the alternator is still under the intake manifold as it is on a stock b16 the timing belt tension pully on a stock b16 isnt supposed to have the exhaust side of the timing belt go around it it is supposed to have the intake side on it

  • @TwisNinja I know these motors, I've got one in my car, and have swapped a few in my day. I didn't know you only had to swap the wires around, I thought it would have had to have custom cams ground. I did know you wouldn't have to swap the exhaust and intake around though. Does the engine still pump up oil pressure spinning backwards, or is that something that has to be addressed?

  • @pdgeman no everything still runs the same and all just need to run the plug wires in reverse order and same with the timing belt

  • @xstr33tr4cerx a stock honda engine runs counter clockwise when looking at it from the timing belt that one is running clockwise thus Reverse Rotation

  • nice work, and nice looking bay.

    Why B16 over the k20?

  • Is there more video of this car

  • turbo???

  • love the itb's

  • Thumbs up on the ingenuity and uniqueness :D

Thumbs down on the fact that its a Honda motor. -__-

  • @stayunique91 Yeah you're fucking stupid, then. There is a B20B VTEC on YouTube holding 45 pounds of boost, stock internals, putting a whopping 800 to the crank, and all they did was slap a turbo kit and a tune on it, no building whatsoever. Try that with anything but a 4G63, and your engine is gonna go BOOM! Honda engineers AMAZING engines that last a very long time.

  • @brapboys503 a 4g63 you would have alot of trouble doing that. a b20 simply wont. at least for more than a few pulls. now a 2jzgte, an rb26dett and sr20det a 7mgte. those can handle it. and even most of those can nt handle it for long. with thte acception of the 2jz and the rb26. the 4g62 is not as strong as everyone says.

  • @brapboys503 Stock internals? You my friend are the stupid one for believing that. Haha. There is not a B20v turbo in the world that will put that down with stock internals. In fact their is only a few that will put that down period. As far as the Honda engines lasting a long time, they can. Then again I see kids with Hondas roll into my shop with issues all the time like bent valves, rod knocks, spun bearings etc.

  • @stayunique91 It's on YouTube, they have it on an engine dyno. Look it up yourself and preparre to lay down.

  • @brapboys503 Without seeing the video, thats not a stock bottom end. So u lay down. What you don't think people lie about that shit?

  • @stayunique91 Haha you're mad.

  • @stayunique91 Still, 600 continuously reliable horsepower out of an engine with less literage than a bottle of Coke. Honda is where it's at, and you said they suck. You couldn't be farther from the truth, fanboy.

  • @brapboys503 When did I ever say they suck? Also I'm not mad, surprised rather at your ignorance.

  • @stayunique91 yup you are right im a mechanic and i just replaced a b18 engine in a 178,000km honda civic that didn't have the timing belt changed. Piston slapped the valves.. As reliable as a honda engine is, the weakpoint is the timing belt and that will snap if not taken care of and all reliability is lost including the whole engine. An engine is only as good as the user who takes care of it.
