"Don't worry about it, he's just one of the countless number of pitiful souls who harbor fake dreams of greatness and is frustrated by reality. He'll never carry out his plan."
I swear...this episode relates a lot to the people in society nowadays...so many people living out in their own scenarios where they can easily get their deepest desires of being acknowledged by others throughout their lifetime; yet in reality they have to struggle with all their might just to get others' acknowledgment.
Gino is really a perfect example of a typical man living an unsatisfying lifestyle...in fact; I almost felt sorry for this guy. :(
When i actully saw this episode it made me feel like i was seeing myself im like Gino but i dont have fantasies of killing, mine are abit like becoming the modern Napoleon Bonaparte taking over a country and making it better but i have to agree with n64314.
is it me, of does it sound like doors are opening and closing in the background? I like the song, but the door sounds are killing me. Very distracting.

Actually it was a bit distracting for me too when I first put attention to it (which was pretty late since I was always so blown away ;)), but I really can't imagine anything more fitting for the song's theme, since it adds a lot of discomposure to the dominating melancholy. Never thought of doors though :D.
@XCrusherX1 to give this another impression: always thought it was a stapler or hole puncher in a ureau, giving the impression of monotonous work each day in, day out.
it's especially distracting if you listen to it at night with your headphones on, the first couple times I listened to this, I kept turning around to check, if somebody was around or not.
I'm the very same way. It's the same SFX used in older video games. My brain picks up on it straight away and takes me out of the song. Too bad, as it's really lovely other wise.
what blows my mind is that they are all ready to do a live action ghost in the shell but it never occured to anyone in hollywod to make a screen adaptation of wiliam gibson's novels and he is the grandfather of the entire cyberpunk genre.
Yeah, I know right?! I'd like to see how hollywood would do with Neuromancer. William Gibson should have been in line first for some movies. I don't seem to understand as to why they want to do a GitS film when the series was inspired off of the Matrix in the first place.
Just the photo you have up to accompany the music is powerful. It makes you think about how difficult and straining it is for one like Gino to go on with life, bottling up false pasts and striving for some form of acceptance from others. Combat battles last for hours, days, weeks; But the scars are permanent.
I can probably account for about 200+ of your view count on this video. Ha ha. I agree with the music and communication connection!
This "live-action" Ghost In the Shell movie had better have some good music along the lines of Yoko, but I bet against it since Hollywood will probably promote some new mainstream music by randomly adding it into the soundtrack. Then again, I strongly dislike the fact that a live-action is even being made.
I'd like to think that Ghost In the Shell should be left as it is. I don't think a live-action will do any good for the artistic and philosophical ranges of the series, and it's a bit obvious that the movie is being produced partially for the purpose of introducing new fans to the GitS universe.
In a way a lot of people today are just like him. Living out their fantasies in there heads and never making any attempt to put them in to action. Maybe not to his extent like mentally creating a false past for himself or thinking about carrying out an assassination plot but deep down inside we all thirst for recognition and acceptance.
I've actually never been too much a fan of the episode this was in, but I love the song itself. There's the smooth, slow lyrics and melody over the chaotic background, and it's all at a very measured pace - it's in no hurry to get where it's going, and I think that actually forces you to listen to at least some of the lyrics and think about them.
i love this song it so good and i rember this episode of ghost in the shell it was good but not my faviorte. still the song is amazing i love yoko kanno she is great especially with Ilaria Graziano.
Very, very beautiful song. Last time I checked Youtube, I couldn't find it...it's awesome you put it up :) I just love her voice and how it fits against the background music/sound effects.
I have to make a comment on the lyrics - the part where she sings "Who taught you emotions?" seems to be a schizophrenic duet-challenge.
There are no "two sides". This guy is simply unsatisfied with his current work and/or life. He dreams of being some kind of a "hero", he wants to change something, yet he is incapable to break through the daily routine he lives through. This has nothing to do with schizophrenia, it's just that sort of "mind games" and imaginations pretty much everyone of us - or rather every "proletarian", as Motoko describes it - sometimes has.

Nades129 2 years ago
It's occured. Often.
Remember Johnny Mnemonic? There's one example.
Also, Neuromancer has been in 'talks' since the 80s. The closest step was recently, when Hayden Christensen was rumored of playing Case.

Also, I think he is considered the 'father' of cyberpunk, while Philip K. Dick could be considered the grandfather; at least, of proto-cyberpunk.
