  • Also, does anyone think Newton might have had high functioning autism?

  • Dawkins: "There are no surviving portraits of Robert Hooke. It is said that they were all destroyed...by Newton." :P

  • American documentaries are stupid, filled with jewness and ignorance

  • What a fantastic series. I knew about all these geniuses, but this really brought them to life.

  • Newton is awesome!

  • What a bitch move. Newton- "Haha Hooke, i'm president of the Royal Society and i (may) have destroyed all your portraits! Suck it!"

Newton, your contributions to mankind are astounding, but if you really did bust all of Hooke's pictures out of spite, that kinda makes you a dick. I still worship your scientific works, but come on now.

  • renouned for his cruelty towards forgers? 8:14

  • this was beautifully amazing :,S

  • The atomic force and gravity of normal objects can't be reconciled because the fools aren't taking the incredible distance into account. Atoms are tiny but the distance between them is vast. Account for that and you got it.

  • As a student working to become an astronomer and university professor, the triumphs of scientific thinking keep me inspired to continue working. I love playing videos like these, where I can learn about my field, while at work, to break the monotony. Thank you very much.

  • This would be a great basis for a drama (and maybe has been done: I haven't looked it up). I can imagine the grumpy curmudgeon Newton being persuaded, flattered and cajoled by the charming Halley.

  • Beautiful doc. -these human geniuses, and their holy curiosity or obsession to understand, are what have raised our world, at least the civilized part of it, to its present level of understanding of reality..

The ancient quest to know, to understand and know what makes things work, is a truly noble quest. These men deserve our admiration and respect.

How different they are from the religious bigots of all persuasions who deal in myths and lies. Vive la science!

  • I can see that they have mixed in a few genuine geniuses like Newton with a few pseudo-geniuses like Dawkins, Hawking, Darwin and probably Sagan. Sad, how these pseudo-scientists are included simply because they attack God.

  • @thechessstick ROFL @ calling Hawking a pseudo scientist... Hawking is the most amazing physicist to have emerged in the last century. He is the leading authority on black holes. Again we see where religion limits learning and understanding how the universe works simply because it tends to debunk the myth around the Christian god...

  • @thechessstick These people believe or don't believe in your god, yet they are geniuses just the same. What makes you more than pathetic is your demand that only geniuses who believe in your pathetic god are real geniuses, while the others are not.

You are more than pathetic, you are disgusting.

  • @khote14 No actually they are quite average in their scientific understanding. Isaac Newton was a real genius. A. E. Wilder-Smith was a real genius. He was smart enough to turn from evolutionist to creationist. If one is not smart enough to do that then they are not a genius for sure. If they do not believe in God then they are not a genius for sure.

  • @thechessstick I thought at first that you meant your comment as a joke, then I realized that you were for real. I might expect something like you've written from some ignorant baluchi tribesman in relation to the Koran but when it issues from the mind of someone raised in the West then it points to a childhood in some bigoted baptist backwater in Tennessee. Your conditioning sure was effective. How did they manage to get you to swallow such crap?

  • watch?v=eU9qVxEwE9g&NR=1 Check out this awesome video featuring Richard Dawkins.

  • Thanks for posting, great stuff!

  • how does Halleys comet continue such a dramatic eliptical orbit? how does it get to its outer sharp turn and not just break away? quite amazing.

damn, i will be 97 when it returns. actually i wont be.lol

  • isn't it pronounced prin-sip-ia?

  • How come the Brits are producing all the cool documentaries today? C'mon, New World. The BBC is making you look bad. Step up!

  • Why is the over priced vacuum guy in these?

  • @jcrist "It's a good vac." -Karl Pilkington

  • @jcrist Because he is a genius.

  • Criminally under viewed.

Newton was a mathematical genius....and I like to state the obvious apparently.

  • from this we learn many things, importantly knowledge should be shared to purposefully progress - thanks for posting and sharing this

  • i remember seeing Halley's Comet last time it visited, fortunately where i am in the southern hemisphere has bugger all light pollution and the mountain near by lets you get up above the haze from moist air at night. Seeing it was an inspiration. Learning more about is influence on human history is mind blowing.

Shame you only get to see it one in a life time.

  • Wow! Sir Isaac Newton... What a F***ing genius.

  • Absolutely amazing! Can't wait for the next episode.

  • @glid1 I'll try and post it by tomorrow. Will probably post the next episodes in HD.

  • @AtheistPlanet2 Thanks for the post!
