You are so lucky! Grackles are awesome - they are very family oriented, and they keep their nests clean. If you watch them you can see them flying away from their nests and dropping things. What they are dropping is the trash from their nests.

And melville75, not to worry, they are not violent. It is reasonable to respect nature, but fearing it blindly (heh, unintentional pun) is unnecessary and harmful to humans and other natural manifestations. :-)

Where did this happen? I would love to be in the middle of a bunch of such friendly birds. I used to have an apartment in an old mansion where they nested in the eaves, but I never saw such a group like you had.
