I can't imagine it's Debussy himself playing. There are also videos on youtube with Debussy playing "Childern's corner", "La cathedrale engloutie" and "La soirée dans Grenade".
i hate piano rolls, they can't convey the actual touch of the player... perhaps the raw timing of the player but nothing else. You get only half the performance at best, maybe only a 1/4 of it. He owed so much to Liszt in his piano works. I read in a biography of Debussy he met Liszt just prior to Liszt's last years and he was really influenced by Liszt's playing.
piano rolls aren't the best, but they are able to provide pedal and volume changes. so, it's a close as we can get. i actually love his tempo and general timing. it's got pomp and joy, which is debussy for you.
Amazing to hear the composer himself playing his own music . Who am I to comment and rate him ,when it is already a "fait accompli" !! and the photos . A charismatic creation 5* for uploading :) :)
I've yet to hear a piece of music which is more beautiful than this.

he plays with such power and speed, unlike many modern performer's moody, "soulful" interpretations. extremely interesting. thank you.

Very good playing.
I think the pianist honored the composer's intentions quite admirably.

@hellososo22 non, c'est debussy lui meme qui joue et c'est lui qui l'a composé donc il devrait la jouer de la bonne facon :)

It says this is a piano roll recording on the info box. I guess you could say it's him playing in a way?
