I was pretty young when this was on the radio. I didn't like it because it was so bittersweet, although I wouldn't have been able to articulate that. I was more into RunDMC
This is my favorite Motels song. I had a reel-to-reel tape with a song that I always thought was the Motels, but couldn't find it on any albums. Had it for 10 years before I found out Martha did a solo album.
The song was "Just Like You" from her album "Policy"
@11xzxzxz : In my opinion, their only good songs were this one, Suddenly Last Summer, and Take the L out of Lover. I love the singer's voice. Her name ws Martha something. I think she had real potential had she found the right material, but it seemed that she had these three very good songs but then the flash was gone from the pan. IMHO.
@TheGreatShidax Yeah thanks for the info . I think it is Martha Davis or if you take the D out of it it's Martha Avis. bad terrible pun I should get 10 thumbs down .. I crave thumb downs; it's a sickness sure. Well take care and get some music up on your site.
@MKPesich before the eighties became "The 80's" we had GREAT bands like The Motels, Ambrosia, Chilliwack, Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and ohhh so many. I dod like what came next in that decade but somehow the early 80s was a special time, when young artists from the 70s reached maturity and added new technology to thier music. Early 80s! we had cassettes, we had a brand new (and so good) MTV channel, we had Yugoslavia. What a GREAT time to be a KID!
if only you knew how much I hate theses advertisements. But I love this song

New Wave was great when it was done right: Tubeway Army, Gary Numan, The Police, The Motels, Blondie.
There were times when it SUCKED, though.

Good haunting stuff. Whatever happened to them? Were there CDs as good as their hits?

One of the few songs where I was willing (and able) to learn all the parts on all the instruments. Can't sing it for shit, though.
