@danskkr well I m from pakistan karachi sindh this instrument ektara was invented by a great sufi poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and follower of the great saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander ekrata is a one string instrument and it produce the Sound similar Like "Ali" Moula Ali was the Master Of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalanderpakistan

He is playing an ekatara, it's just not the type (gopijantra) played in Bengal. You can see this ektara played at the dargahs in Lahore and other places in the Panjab
