@koprocks08 all answers are wrong, the only reason is simple , if they line up in attack, messi would not be able to play and move freely inside the triangle made by the wingers.... he would have to line up with the team..... the rhombus is most used in barcelona or bayern munich with robben.... not so much on real madrid for example where higuain or benzema usually head the attack looking for infiltrations from cristiano ronaldo / di maria or a good pass from ozil in a dead spot

The game has changed a lot since the World Cup in USA 1994 with the killer counter attacks. I saw this coming as the game will turn into a Indoor Style, as the outside defenders score, thus the defenders will dissapear as they need to be equally skilled as the midfilders and to score goals obviously!!!! i've always been of the opinion that against certain teams, barca do not send enough players forward past messi when he's on the ball 30 yards from goal, iniesta will do it from time to time like against madrid in the super copa, but not consistently cesc has shown me he's willing to do that from his attacking midfielder role, hopefully we see more of this
