Dear god. Years and years ago, I saw an advert for this game in a random PC magazine, and that one purple monster- the one that looks like a cello? It gave me nightmares for years on end. I've been searching forever for information on this game- turns out it /wasn't/ called "Easter Mine".

For what it's worth, the Propagators from the Ragnarok in Final Fantasy 8 and the final boss of Sonic Shuffle broke me too, and I've never been frightened by a "scary" movie in the least. Different strokes, different folks

@Prinsdam Weird. I think he looks quite cool. Ingame he's a very talented musician, and in this I like his little... dance thing. He's certainly interesting. And he looks quite cool aswell, with real items turned in to a person. I think it's a pretty awesome design. Also, with the whole musician thing, I sort of get the image of a kind person. But, each to their own.

@Clarvoya Context. The ad I saw made it sound like a horror game- the tagline was "Eastern Mind, where the only way to win... Is to die!", which is entirely true, though not nearly so morbid in practice. I don't remember anything else the article said, but the screenshots looked nightmarish enough to seal the deal and traumatize my developing child brain.

Not to say that Sato's character designs aren't appealing (or intriguing, at least!). They're the main attraction for sure.

@Prinsdam Ahh, I see where you're coming from. Especially with the death thing, Western religions and belief etc. etc. is mostly that death is the end, where a more Eastern one features common religions with Reincarnation, where death would be merely a point on a journey. So to us, that'd be terrifying. I suppose the tagline made it sell, sounding like you had to find ways to kill yourself, rather then Death simply let you reincarnate and choose a different path.
