Why the hell can't i download anything on Steam? Everytime i try to download something, it stops in the middle, and when i click resume, 2 seconds later, it pauses again.
if you already have a steam account with half life 2 in your library, will these PC/Mac games automatically run on any PC or Mac that you have Steam installed on, or do i need to buy a different version of the game that is optimized for Mac OS?
I'm debating on getting Steam for my iMac (late 2010), yet I don't want to buy the Orange Box to find out the games won't play right. I also have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and that has a lot of problems of its own.
They both met the requirements to run it. Any suggestions on what's the better choice?
@JesterMeyer I would try your iMac first, a good test to see if you can run the Orange box, is to download Team fortress 2 as it's free to play (meaning you don't have to pay for it) and was one of the original games in the Orange box. The only problem running a Mac with steam is that not many game are supported, if you want to have a look first just go to there site and click on Mac. if you have any other questions just ask :)
@empyphil Not turn Macbooks can rival high end windows laptops in spec, it's just that developers are not used to creating/porting games to it yet, in the future games will run better just like with every another gaming console.
@matt10394 I know but it doesnt perform as smooth as in windows, if you install both hl2 for Mac OS X and windows version using bootcamp on the same apple computer and check fps windows will beat it easy. I'm not a mac hater or anything actualy i own a mac and i love it but for games i always use bootcamp.
I WANT A MACBOOK PRO!!!!! I have for some time now, cuz it can run portal, hl2, AND TF2, and all my other steam games that my current pc cant!!! OMGGGG
@Mrmario315 Was this your first time launching it? Because with the combined strain of recording, and the first time run, that's probably the reason for the choppiness.
It's sad that it's 2010 and most macs can't even run HL2 at highest settings. I run it at fullest settings on PC at like 80-150fps, depending on environment. My PC's graphics card is outdated.
@ChuChuDyl you have a point PC's are good for gaming, while mac's are to. i have the best kinda mac they make and have no issue's with it. so this guy ethier has a terible video recording system or his mac is total shit
@rags360 You can try installing the driver from tattiebogle . net in the projects section of the site, but if HL2 is not supported don't be expecting a support update soon, hope this helped.
I have a MacBook (Specs are the same only difference is my Processor is 2.0 GHz)
and it kinda stops for a few seconds every time I go around a corner at least in the beginning later on it doesn´t stop too often... My settings are on the recommended ones. Do you have a clue what I should do? ^^
@TheDot08 Other than lowering your settings down no sorry, if you do this be sure to turn down shadows and water effects to the lowest settings first, as this may solve your problem without effecting model and texture detail.
Thanks for your replay, I have the same CPU and GC on my imac, but I can't get over 100 fps even on low settings, it's almost unplayable on high(20~5). What resolution are you playing at, and do you have AA on?
Hey y'all. Just to say this also runs fine on my 1GB RAM Intel x3100 white macbook. Very occasional lag in sound but perfectly playable. I'm in Ravenholm at the moment and it's great!

@sooperchikken You only need to buy the game once and it will work on Pc and Mac, along as you sign into the account you bought the game on.

Looks kinda slow.. or its just the video?
Fardoreza 1 year ago
@Fardoreza It's just the capture software running at the same time, it's ok when its running on it own.

What are your settings and what fps do you get?

@GDhsfsvgful Getting around 120-60 fps depending on what's happening but no lower, also playing on mid to high graphics settings.

@GDhsfsvgful Don't have AA on, as i prefer a good fps over graphics, also my res is 1152-720.
Mrmario315 1 year ago
i love how much better it runs on a real computer
keroro69 1 year ago
The lag in the video is mainly because of the capture software running at the same time, and with the program not running, lag is not an issue.
Mrmario315 1 year ago
so i can expect this performance on a mac mini that i'll be buying soon since it'll have the same speed cpu and video card.
