  • do you always have to do that at the end

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  • Hello Mr Smith

    Thanks very much for that.

I really do enjoy your vids.

Can you tell me what clay body that was.

    I suspect porcelain.

The reason for that is that you took special care in the building and it seemed to cost you more effort than usual.

  • i liked that.. when i do demos for my friends, like throwing a small necked bottle, plate, or something, i always smash it so they can do it themselves :]

  • I absolutely love that you destroy your demo pots! It demonstrates a high level of emotional detachment. A very Zen-like experience for a beginner such as myself to observe this level of detachment.

  • Very well done Mr. Smith! Excellent demonstration! Your work is beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to provide a glimpse at your talents.

  • hey men u use water for work its?

  • u should have cut it in half.... it looked thick

  • Went to his website; has some cool stuff there. Kudos.

  • ahh i cant believe that you destroyed it that pot looked really good i only have a year in ceramics in highschool but i know that that was really good should have kept it

  • I think he destroys them to separate himself as an artist over a potter.

  • I am wondering why you trim the bottom after you pull. Is there any reason you do that besides ridding the excess clay? Is it is special way of keeping clay centered or something else? I'm a beginning potter and I loved your video... It was also a great lesson in learning that it's only mud, and if I mess up, I'll remember that after watching your video! I guess it's best not to get too attached to one's work, eh?

    Thanks for the great video.

  • aaaah stop breaking your pieces after working so nicely on them. I am sure you made so many and you dont need anymore but you should just sell them on ebay or whatever. I am a first semester pottery in a local college and it takes so much effort just to center, by the time you throw you get drained...lol you are very good at this.

  • Keeping and finishing demo pots takes more effort than making them

  • What's the difference between a "demo" pot and a "planned for sale or whatever" pot if it's made extremely well and has obvious 'value' to it; many definitions of value apply here.

  • The demos that I do in class on on youtube may not be the items i sell even if they are perfect. finishing them will take effort that i could use on pieces that I will sell or want to finish. does that make sense.

  • The demo pots I do for my students I always finish. It is a nice way to show a before and after piece, and encourage kids to finish their pieces. Of course, I am working with grade school kids as opposed to college students like you.

  • We do a lottery, I do end up finishing a part of them, and those need a home so we pick numbers and each student get a pot. I need to demo glazing and cleaning after firing too.

  • mainly the location, most demos are made away from the studio and if you've ever tried to move a freshly thrown vase, it doesn't work too well. it usually ends up on its side in the back of your car anyway

  • cool o.o
