In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5 :D
I used to be a BORN AGAIN XIAN myself long before Kirk Cameron was even around and Speak from experience...these people are a FUCKING sham!!! I know..I lived it and have spoken about it with several former BORN again XIANS!!!
What a shame we don't have shows like this on tv no more. Allan is right now days you have shows or kids on one channel and adult show on others. Case in point Nickelodeon, Disney and ABC Family just to name a few. Times have changed I used to watch all these shows growing up. I'm 36 now and still watch the reruns. But I'm a real bad reality show junkie. Miss the family shows wish they can come back.
the show was absolutely big in china back in the early 90s, and it's not true that only two american shows were allowed in china at the time, a lotta american shows were aired in china back in the early 90s, but not so many sitcoms. Growing pains was actually the very first sitcom idea presented to the chinese ever !
SO HYPOCRITAL OF KIRK TO SAY HES NOT RELIGIOUS AND YET HES PART OF THE MOST BIGOTTED CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT TO BOSS PEOPLE AROUND AND TELL THEM HOW FUCKED UP THEY ARE
@sheilaboy44 unless you are a Christian you don't understand the difference between Christianity and religion. Of course you have the right to your opinion, but for someone that hates being judged, you sound kind of judgmental yourself...just saying
Kirk Cameron is an amazing man and I'm so glad he's setting an example to other Christians in sharing his Faith and going out and caring about others.
@SUNSHINE21480 Christians believe they are the only true way to Jesus and the rest of Religion is bunk so therefore they don't even want to be classified as Religion.
@suckerpunch524 I agree. They had/have excellent chemistry together. They would have made a cute couple. On a couple of Growing Pains specials - the THS especially - Thicke talks about how they did have a thing for each other, but decided it would be better for the show if they remained friends, which he says was probably better for the show because their "sexual tension" translated well on-screen - lol.
@smilegrrrrrl What Kirk is saying about not being religious, is that there is more to Christianity. Check out his work on Way of The Master. There is more to it and it it well worth the investigation! Eternal life, peace with God and forgiveness of sins is not religion but about knowledge of Jesus Christ.
awww, this brings back soo many memories!!! How in LOVE I was with Kirk and how much I enjoyed this show! Great to watch. Kirk - u are the man! Awesome role model!
Growing Pains was one of the few shows on at the time that gave parents a role model to stick to their guns and hold their kids to a higher standard. There were always consequences to poor decisions.
@wdywoodpecker15 The dictionary defines Christianity as such: "A religion, including the Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox churches". I.E. Christianity is a religion, one of many on this planet. Therefore, Kirk is religious. Whether or not he believes his religion to be the 'supreme' or for lack of better terminology, 'right' one is his PERSONAL opinion. I promise you, there are many who don't agree. To say that being religious is a step away from God is a laughing stock.
Christian but not religious? I just looked up the definition of religious to make sure I was not crazy.... Yeah Kirk, you're religious. sorry to say.....
@heather23renae I believe that it is his choice to be very religious and a christian, those r 2 different things, and listen to how he asks the question, kirk said he's not very religious, but believes in the word and hes christian
one thing i respect about Kirk is that instead of going the way of a lot of other child actors, drugs, alcohol ect. he chose a spiritual path. it would be nice if there were more positive role models like Kirk out there.
Positive role mode? Look again, my dear. He's done more to confuse kids about science than just about anyone in Hollywood. Choosing a "spiritual path" is one thing; helping to erode science and denying the FACT of evolution is quite another.
@Sheldonwh Okay here is I see atheist and the FACT of evolution...First if you dont believe in God and somebody does..why rain on there parade..Let them believe what they want.. Second...If I believe in God and at the end I am wrong..o well I will never know..now if you are an atheist and at the end you are wrong..well oops sorry...Confuse kids come on..even if God is not real at least they will grow up to be good people and try to do the best they could..
@crazy8721 You're so wrong, I don't know where to begin. First, people believing in nonsense isn't a victimless crime. It affects their critical thinking, and since I have to live on the same planet with them, it affects ME (e.g., they vote). Also, you seem to be repeating the old Pascal's Wager; what you're forgetting is that believing in a god simply as an insurance policy wouldn't satisfy your bloodthirsty god. Lastly, you must be KIDDING about believers being good people. That's crazy!
@TinaMichelle74 The problem is Kirk blatantly lies to people with his and Ray Comfort's crusade against evolution and science in general. That being said, I do truly admire the charity work Kirk and his wife do with terminally ill children.
@TinaMichelle74 Ooof.. that`s a scary sentence; 'he chose a spiritual path' What a way of saying it, as Kirk is very specific. He is a christian and follows Jesus; which is the Only Way. Other ways are not spiritual. And God has the choice, not people. So you sentence has to be; 'He discovered Jesus and followes Him' Any other way isn`t spiritual.
Actually the 1st reunion movie was great and had the same spirit as the series, the 2nd reunion movie however was really bad -_-. It's plot had wayyy too many continuity problems & inconsistencies with the series. I kinda wish that they had did the 2nd reunion movie about what had happened to Luke's character instead.
im a christian too and i also think its a great idea on what hes doing... i might get a comment or so on this but its bot like the Mormons going door to door with the book of Mormon witch i think is a made up book... and nothing can rewrite the B.I.B.L.E. ( basic instruction befor leaving earth ) ... but besides all that it is a great idea to help people with a better way and get out of the life of getting stoned, drunk, raped, etc. there is a better way than turning away from god and his plan
cant agree more and i would like to add with all the TRASH in hollyweird kirk cameron is a peach.God bless all the work he has done with his camp helping children and the sick.
I kinda agree with Kirk, I belive in faith, But I hate religion. The idea of beliving in God and having faith is great, what they did wrong was build a structure around it, and then it becomes religion BS. They should have just left faith alone. :o) and I will probably get crap for this too, But I don't really care either.
God is the belief of a higher power. Religon is an institution. It doesn't give you option to think freely, or ask questions. Because if you do question God or his methods than your not a believer, So the religous people say. But there are christians out there that believe there is a God and doesn't care what the religous people say, they learn God their own way, they don't conform to anyone elses ways of thinking, or doing things.
well that is your opninion, in my own opinion I don't believe there is a God either, But I refuse to condemn people if having faith is all that gets them thru life. Sometimes thats all they have. I know people like that
@jazzyazz Kinda like the "fact" that time space and matter invented themselves, then a tiny dot of matter exploded, organized itself, and life came from nonlife? (all, by the way, unscientific since it has never been observed, cannot be tested and has never been demonstrated)
@jm04206 Wow...you..you really, honestly believe that? Or are you just trying to make a joke? Because if that's the case, I find it ridiculous that your trying to make a point out of a theory stating that you can't believe in something that contains no proof (which goes to show how much bias you contain, considering multiple studies, matter sampling, and reconstructions of the Big Bang have been performed, documented, and recorded), considering your whole religion is based on WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE.
@UnladylikeBoots Oooooooooh! Tell us again how time, space and matter all created themselves and a bunch of nothing exploded! Thats soooooooooooooooooooo scientific
@slydog31 Um...you do know that the Bible wasn't actually written by God right? It's a compilation of personal essays that Constantine formatted into a series of doctrines in a mass distributed pamphlet to erase the majority of Paganism. In fact, Jesus wasn't even born within December, but rather in late July. The reason Christmas is celebrated in December is to erase the Winter Solstice, a pagan holiday. Check your facts before you call others out on their 'make-believe".
i don`t know if its just me but it looks like either a hair shadow or something coming down the middle of his forehead... it don`t look like blood but it looks like something running down his head
For all you dummies who didnt live in the 80's.........this was a hit show that featured Kirk Cameron as a normal kid chasing girls and getting into teenage shenanigans.........then sadly, he got older and became a pathetic Jesus freak who believes evolution is fake and the Earth is less than 6,000 yrs. old and that dinosaurs walked with Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden........what happened to you, Kirk, you dumb fuck ??
