thanks to ur video, i now want a tine or stage 1, as they sound un - annoyingl, contrast to a regular loud acoustic steel wire upright or grand. with tine or stage, sounds to me like a rubber band hitting a xylophone key, just the right volume for really tranquil minute volume playing.
Does anybody know if this is an actual song? Cause I must've watched this video about a 100 times just cause it sounds so damn good and it's inspired me to look for a Denon Elepian of my own. I've been searching now for over two years since I first saw this video and have yet to find a single one for sale anywhere.
To anyone wondering, the reason this sounds like a mix between a Rhodes and a Wurli is because it has hammers striking wurli type reeds, but has individual electromagnetic pickups like a Rhodes. Awesome!
To my ear, this sound is very much in between a Rhodes and a Wurlitzer. It has the roundness and the smoothness sound of the Rhodes, but can (almost) gets grinchyness of a Wurlitzer. Cool.
It also sounds a little bit like a digital piano imitating a Rhodes...
Olivier you are the man! Your collection is dreamy and you are really contribute a lot by giving us the opportunity to watch these beautiful instuments .Also great playing!

Hey Olivier-
That's truly a beautiful sounding instrument. Could you send us some pics of the inside action and tone generators? I have never seen one of these?
All the best, Chris

To me this seems to have characteristics of both Rhodes & Wurlitzer. LOVE IT!

How does this generate sound? Are there plucked reeds, like a pianet?
matthehat 2 years ago
@matthehat there are things like little "lips" inside which get hit by a hammer like at a piano... but no strings or else...
