You could mix this code with parts from Blended Cities, where it creates certain kinds of buildings depending on the colors. This way, it would generate different corridor and wall styles, or stairs, depending on the color and you could have fully planned out maps, or random maps, or a mixture of both.
This would be great for a hide and seek game! You start outside the building then you must run inside and hide. You got 5 min before the other player can start looking.
I recently came across your combined effort "SCE" and your Street generator, and now this, and all I can say is wow. But I am curious if you plan on merging the projects, the thought of a script that would generate streets, buildings, and all the insides of the buildings seems amazing. Ive been a fan of blender for awhile now but the BGE had been so limited for a long time, now it has gone a long way since then and this would be perfect for implementing huge city scape's in my upcomming project
Even though having the full buildings (inside and outside) generated is indeed interesting, I foresee 2 serious obstacles: the inside must fit the outside shell and the polycount for a whole city will be scary. But it is possible.
My priority, for now, is to have those 3d streets and blocks ready, then put the buildings along the roads. I'm on it....
By the way, version 0.3 of the level generator has been released. The results are far less boring than v0.2. Check out the thread on the forum.
I dunno the limits of BGE, but couldn't you just have it generate the exterior buildings then, when you want to go inside, drop the exterior model and generate the interiors based on the size and shape of the exterior? Also don't know python, so may be possible or may not be (plus I don't know how the script works).
I'm sure it could be done in C++, but blender can't use that.
Can you have a few wall textures etc? I saw something about probability so I assume so. I don't suppose there is any way to procedurally add objects from linked groups? that would make it almost a game generator.
Also is the created level one mesh or separate objects to allow for culling?
how i install the generator??? i have blender v.2.6 and v.2.59

Wow, this looks just like the thing I am looking for. I want to create a dungeon crawler with random generated levels.
Gonna look into this a bit more I think....
PS - Really like the Gigantic level lol

fantastic job,
i am currently researching a similar approach to procerudal level generation,
looking whether it is possible to generate good FPS levels in them.
i do really like your scrips (especially version 0.3 as it has mutliple heightlevels.)
i am unfamiliar with blender but will try to get it all working to see how you
approached it.
i plan to make a generator in houdini, i hope i can get it all to work,
very inspirational video, would love to hear more from it!

I imagine how easy game making would be with this thing.
NCWEntertainment 2 years ago
it still would not be easy the only thing this programm does is creating a 3-D World but in most games you don´t want a random 3-D world
