@markbooher1 If you like this so much, it shouldn't be a barrier to learn it. Basicly, you gotta know how chords work and how they relate to eachother so you can play scales over several chords etc.. I'm not an expert at this, but I know some things
i don't think anything on the planet could relax me as much as this. you are a supper awesome musician. hope to hear you on the weather channel or the radio!!! keep on making music!
You may want to set it to one of the cleaner settings--if there is a fender or "blackface" setting. Then set the mids, bass, and treb all pretty flat to start (adjust later). Then ad a hint of reverb, maybe around 4-6. Then set your guitar to the neck pickup and roll the tone off quite a bit (adjust to liking).
My jazz guitar tone tip is to roll the tone of your guitar more than halfway. Then drop the treble down to about 4, the bass down to about 3 and the mid at about 5 or 6. Then adjust accordingly to suit your taste. This will give you a nice dark sound that cuts (because of the mids) Just be careful not to have the mids to high, or your tone can actually be a little painful to the ears, but what do I know, I'm only 17...
keep the treb at around 2-3, mids 5. bass 6-7. On your guitar use ur bridge pick up. )If you have a 5 way selector, then all the way up). Have your presence at 7-8, reverb 4-5. Don't use any of the effects that come with that amp. I hope this helps.
One of the best "smooth jazz" guitarists in the world...relaxing beyond words...simply the best my man...really 2nd to none in "feel". Really the best...thanks Matt! Obie Obien RPV, CA
I read on your site, I believe...can't remember where,...about your saying how a light touch was the 'key.' I tried it and how true!
Thanks! All your guitars sound alike, when you're playing them, because of your touch.
And I found that I, too, have been able to achieve that sound, by simply using the lightest 'touch' when playing. Thanks, again, and keep up with the great videos. Hey...I may have mastered the 'touch', but I have a ways to go, to 'master' your phrasing!
matt, thanks for sharing your music. as a guitarist, I learn a lot from watching your posts. -- on the side, i saw you doing that 'Wes Montgomery' thing. Is it asking too much if I ask you how you do that Wes lick? Can that technique be generalized for most keys?
This sounds wonderful, how relaxing...... beautiful tone, nice to see Peerless being used..... nice!

Once again another great work of art over a simple background track. That's what separates a good guitarist from a great one!
