Yeah they may have lost a little bit of charm as a 3-some but the versatility of having a bass around is not to be underrated. Helps with backup vocals also.

Keane had no guitar in Hopes & Fears then in Under The Iron Sea they added pedal effects to Tim's electric piano & using guitar for acoustic shows only. However alot of their songs were using effects taken from an MacBook Pro which they got some stick for so they've taken away the effects the best way they could by adding jesse for bass & background effects to old songs. Whilst songs like Is It Any Wonder still don't use a guitar, songs from Perfect Symmetry do, some in a big way like YHTMA.
