Says it all, really. The new budget provides a realistic start for having a productive human spaceflight program. What we had was a doomed pipe dream.

Think of the space programme as a life raft being lowered into the ocean from a sinking ship.

That raft has now slowed almost to a stop.

One day,maybe tomorrow ,maybe next year,2012,2029,2036 or maybe a billion years from now if wer'e lucky,everything alive on Earth today will be extinct.

So,to avoid extinction we must put all available recources into getting that life raft into the water as quickly as possible.

Short sighted politicians will be our doom.

After the emotions calm down, maybe the discussion of what NASA will do will start. Continue Shuttle? Make a Jupiter HLV? Keep Orion? Or something totally new?

Something tells me there is more that the Administration is not telling us.

Thank the idiots in the US government who have decided that it is a good idea to rely on the Russian good will to fly us back to up to our huge investment in space exploration.

It will only take one diplomatic crisis for the Russian government to react poorly to American participation and effectively evict us. Someone in DC had better get their heads out of their collective asses and realize that this program worth the money.
