  • Muska should rot in a cake.

  • Where can I get this? I can't find it on itunes...

  • Does it seem faster than usual to anyone else but me?

  • @xPeetaSpikeFangx Not just you. XD

  • @xPeetaSpikeFangx the track is probably sped up so it doesn't get taken down by WMG

  • @gulpersharkeye I think they just made it faster tempo in the re-score. No clue why.

  • @CanManDanProductions Search it on amazon. Last time I checked, someone was selling a copy for $18 (:

  • Do you know what I want to see? For some weird reason, I want to see this movie crossover with Garfield. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • Can I thumbs up with no reason?

  • I love hovv they did nothing about hovv the emblem hath boobz :'D lololol

on a more mature note- I'm in love vvith the zoundtrack :'>

  • Someone please tell me were I can get a copy of the entire ost!

  • @CanManDanProductions Try CDJapan.co.jp.

  • Only one word for all the lovers of Laputa, one word for all the ones who love Hisaishi-san

    Beautiful

  • 1:54 always gets me excited. It's my favoriye part of the song along with the scene that happens in that part

  • The strangest thing is, I love all of the re-recording, but I still prefer the original main theme. This one seems a little more rushed and the part around 1:18 lacks those low driving strings.

  • @googlemeister94 The biggest problem with the original is that it was very much not in sync with what was happening in the animation, which was brilliantly changed in this version.

  • 0:25 started in a very touching part of the movie... Truly a masterpiece

  • I cried.

    So beautiful.

Joe Hisaishi is a true genius.

  • this is why most of ghibli's music is done by him: perfection to match perfection.

  • @smoo1209 The funny thing was that I went over all the melodies from various Miyazaki movies and all of them use the very same notes in different arrangement :D Still the best music around though.

  • does anyone besides me notice how similar this sounds to Mononoke Hime? i know it's not the exact same, but some of the parts seem to match very closely

  • @TheEpona92 i noticed it too, especially at the end of this song. But hey, it's still a near-perfection nevertheless :D

  • @TheEpona92 @smoo1209 The funny thing was that I went over all the melodies from various Miyazaki movies and all of them use the very same notes in different arrangement :D Still the best music around though. (I accidentally replied to smoo1209 and I didn't mean to ^^;)

  • 0.0 is it just me or did it sound a little like Princess Mononoke @ 2:24 ?

  • This is one of my favourite songs in the entire movie. I thought it fit well with introducing Sheeta and the power of her crystal.

  • So is this music the original score or the music for the American release? B/c I saw the film in Japanese on DVD [via audio options] and heard this music but then heard the original had different music?

  • @TXRider This is the music from the American release of the film that Disney provided years ago. The rerecorded music is essentially identical, the only difference is that it's performed by an orchestra. So yes, this IS the rescore.

  • @Turnajon I'm pretty sure this particular tune wasn't changed. I have the 2010 release, and I didn't notice a difference. >_>

  • @CaptainRaccoonWhitly I wasn't saying that this tune was changed at all. If it's about my comment to TXRider, I was merely that this is the same song, just reorchestrated (and with a brief but effective stretch of two stanzas just before the moment that Sheeta's crystal lights up). Either way, this song is hauntingly gorgeous and the central theme of the picture. Hisaishi's music really manages to breathe life to Miyazaki's worlds, and this is no exception.

  • @Turnajon Gosh, this is the _only_ version I know, though...my memories fail me [I have a Mandarin dub on VHS _and_ the Disney/American version on DVD] and to my knowledge the two have this version of the theme. When you refer to the original, with what was it performed? Synthesizers or something...?

  • @Turnajon never mind - Could it be that the "original" you mentioned is watch?v=sfRecbWWINs ? Because it sounds a bit different from this recording and is in fact what I remember more vividly...I _thought_ 1:05~1:15 sounded fishy in this recording - turns out it was an octave higher than what I remember.

  • @ccccony Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I meant that it was performed with synthesizers on the Japanese version. In the Disney dub, it's fully orchestrated. I personally prefer the reorchestrated version, but either way this song is very beautiful.

  • @Turnajon Hoo, those are some nice synthesizers they have...I have a "full collection" of the Miyasaki-Hisaishi soundtracks (bought in Taiwan) which sound terrible (synthesizers are expressionless here).

I'm with you - I actually kinda like the real-instrument feel better.

  • @ccccony Which is why I find it very strange how ANYONE can say that this new score harms the film in any way. It's Joe Hisaishi's work, after all, and he himself has expressed approval for the new score (so did Miyazaki). It's actually hard for me to listen to some of the synthy versions of these cues; the new score makes them sound more powerful. If anything, it's one of the biggest reasons why Disney's dub is so good (the others being the performances of the cast).

  • @Turnajon I wouldn't know about approval from either party, but I can easily imagine it. I can understand the ultra-conservatives disliking this rescore of the work, but really...I don't agree with them either.

I agree, I really do enjoy the Disney dub...though I can still never get used to the idea of anime in English. Even Chinese dubs really phase me.

Nonetheless...I think we can all agree this piece is a real Hisaishi jewel. =)

  • I love 1:05-1:32!

  • This and pricess mononoke have the best soundtracks and I think they're the best miyasaki films as well.

  • sorta reminds me of pokemon rise of Darkrai. (music) the actual city of laputa reminds me of celestia-city in the sky-oocoo palace. (city) but the symbol reminds me the symbol of the spirits-spirit tracks. (symbol)

  • Wow! Beautiful song.

  • where can i get the soundtrack? is it possible to download online?

  • One of my greatest childhood songs~ Love it!

  • I love this updated version of the soundtrack. Disney was wise to go to Mr. Hisaishi and have him update his own music. It's a more mature version of what he originally wrote and I believe it achieved near-perfection.

  • @PeachWookiee

Definitely. As much as I like the old score, this reworking really rivals it. It's hard for me to go back to the original score anymore, as I find this rescore absolutely spectacular. This version of the title cue, in particular, sounds marvelous in its new dress. Did you also notice, too, that toward the end, two stanzas are deliberately stretched out to accentuate the moment when Sheeta's crystal flares up just after the opening titles wrap up? That was a nice touch.

  • @Turnajon It was. I just listened to the old version. I agree that the stanzas being stretched was a nice touch. It seems to add to the "miracle" of the moment.

  • @PeachWookiee I totally agree. It sounds a lot better with a full orchestra.

  • its probably one of the best soundtracks ive ever heard. i mean i hear this song and instantly think castle in the sky. it defines it that much. its definetly going in my favorites list.

  • oh thank you, thank you, thank youuuuuu

xD sorry, but thank you for uploading the whole soundtrack

  • this is amazing... i can feel the music, not just listen to it

  • most wonderful

  • wonderful....
