honestly i hope they never make a drizzt movie because of the quality of all the movies that have been coming out lately. It would be awesome if someone could do it right, but i have lost pretty much all faith in the movie industry at this point.

There is no feature shared by *all* elves. Even the pointy ears have been subverted in Hellboy II. Beauty was subverted by Harry Potter. Warhammer 40K goes for an exageration of traits we like in humans, leaving them with an eerie, far from classic, beauty.
That was the other good thing about the actor playing the elf in Hellboy 2, he was such a good actor... Probably moving to the big screen from theatre acting...
R.A. Salvatore's writings were based on racial issues and life. Drizzt's a drow, you should perhaps use a black person as the Drow, more suited would be hmm.. Wesley Snipes or similar...

Gerald Butler is too jacked to play Entreri, IMO. Entreri was described with a small frame. Same goes with Hugh Jackman. And I love Hugh Jackman, but he's just not the right type for a dark elf.
You might get an animated movie but you're never going to see the real deal. Wizards of the Coast would never expose Salvatore's work to potential disaster and after horrific past attempts at dungeons and dragons films I don't blame them

Am I the only one who thinks Zachary Quinto as Artemis would be pretty awesome? I mean, he already has the stare. Artemis is cool an collected (as well as demented) but when angry with drizzt, he is pretty much on the verge of insane. Zachary would be able to play that off really well.

Kate Beckinsale for Cattie: Luke Goss (Dude from Hellboy II) for Drizzt, Guy who just played Thor for Wulfgar, Alan Cumming for Regis, John Rhys Davies as Bruenor (I know he played Gimli but I can't imagine a better dwarf), I think Hugh Jackson might be a good Artemis (a very moody part which he portrays well as Wolverine, plus you have to be a little swarthy to be him)
If the series ever becomes a movie it will be with CGI like avatar. the only thing that will be important about the actors will be mannerisms. Elves are not just humans with pointy ears, there are no actors that could play Drow without cinema graphics. Great Entreri BTW.

@mattgchev Yep^^ On top of that, there hasn't been any forgotten realms related game featuring Drizzt that was actually based on his story. And I think the Ubisoft studio would be perfect to do the job. A Prince of Persia type of gameplay would be appropriate. They do have a similar fighting style

I'm totally against a movie! It would kill the story completely! To say Drizzt's entire personality and story can be captured a 2 hour long film is insulting to how much depth there is. In fact, I think it should be an animate series, if that's the right word, like Final Fantasy, so that the actors won't change every other movie. The fighting scenes are scenary will probably be easier to create as well.
@rsgirl10 I completely agree, whenever someone says they should make it live action, I know that it'd end up ruining everything. Even if they were to make a movie, you cant cover over 20 books in a single movie, and it'd have to be done one at a time. In any case it'd ruin the series for me.
When it comes to Forgotten Realms, the adaptation of Drizzt Trilogy and War of the Spider Queen is A MUST DO for cinematography :) Also, a great choice of staff.
Gary Oldman as Deudermont, Ray Park as Robillard, Jim Carrey as Harkle Harpell, Daniel Radcliffe ( Harry Potter ) as Maimun, Jessica Biel as Delenia "Delly" Curtie, Halle Berry as Ellifein, Ryan Reynalds as another possible Drizzt.
Johnny Depp would be a decent Jarlaxle as well, but Hugh Jackman is indeed too tall, and brawny. Orlando Bloom would be great for the roll of Drizzt Do'Urden. All are good, plus you should do a Pwent, a Hralien ,and a Deudermont. P.S Russell Crow would be a good Artemis Entreri as well.
I actually totally agree with everyone you chose. About died laughing at Butler but I can totally see it. Drizzt I was worried about, seeing as he is the main character..I was thinking someone pretty like Orlando but Hugh would do a pretty good job I think. :) I'd be happy with that cast. Felicia Day would make a good Cattie-Brie - I'd be happy with her too.

No LOR actors, please. I like Gerard Butler, but I can also see him as Zaknafein instead. Jarlaxle should be someone who is funny and will look ok as a bald dark elf. Bruenor should be somebody older and more gruff. I think the actor from Hellboy 2 was great as Nuada, just needed to darken his skin a little, plus he's a good actor and can physically keep up.
I love your casting. Got tired of having to buy three books for one story though (with the middle book just filler for the corp stock margin). Rock on if you plan on making a VERY PROFESSIONAL movie of it. BUT PLEEEEASE, no third-eye, shaking-the-camera-to-death, and constantly wiggling the camera when not shaking it to death. It is very distracting and forces the audience onstage...it ain't their job! They belong in the audience; not on stage! But go for it, I would love to see a Drizzt movie!
ok i liked all but the one for drizzt. drizzt should probably be someone more prettier you may need to go with an outside person like Gackt or use Orlando bloom but he probably be better for one of the moon elf characters (just saying cause the book does say drizzt's is a every beautiful man)

@JankyToe all of them from the Dark Elf Trilogy to the Never Winter series. I didn't read the transitions however.Although it says once in the Starless Night that Drizzt is 5'5'' I could still not picture him that tall in a live action movie. Especially going up agents Gerard Butler.
or no movie that way you can still picture the characters as you see fit, thats why i like reading the stories and hate how movies alter the images of your favorite character so when you next read about them you see the actor that played them it is annoying
Fan of Drizzt. We need to do something. If you are as impatient as me to see the Dark Elf in the big screen, plz organise. 2 conditions a) No cheap-4th-class movie and b) RA Salvatore as the co-producer/director to make them catch the book's spirit.
With Wulfgar it is so easy to go with a cheesy cast like a WWE wrestler. But let's not, I'm gonna get some flack for this but I think he fits the role and is a very good actor, Alexander Skarsgård. Catti-brie is a tough one, I'm gonna have to go with Anna Torv. As for Drizzt, I have trouble picking between Eamonn Walker and Aidan Gillen. Other considerations: Regis-John Hannah, Mooshie-Patrick McGoohan, Gromph Baenre-David O'Hara, Dantrag Baenre-Ray Park.
Jackman and Butler are completely wrong for this, in fact both would be bad choices for Wulfgar let alone Drizzt and Artemis. But Chiklis as Bruenor would be a disaster. I see Entreri as more like Oded Fehr, Said Taghmaoui or even Javier Bardem (he is from Calimshan after all), and I think Peter Mensah or Lance Reddick would make a great Zaknafien. Jarlaxle for me has to be Tim Roth (think Rob Roy). For Regis and Bruenor I pick Brian Cox and Brendan Gleeson or vise versa you tell me, I think
Entrerie and Drizzt both are shorter, slender, agile fighters. Jackman and Butler don't fit the bill. Not to mention are you going to have Jackman in blackface for the entire movie? lol. I agree with the Old Spice guy being Jarlaxle though. That's a match made in heaven.

Another thought for Aremis, Dominic Purcell. He's got the darkness, the physique. Butler is good but Purcell I think captures the natural darkside of Artemis. His natural vibe kinda says, "Don"t even think about it", yet he's still eye candy for the ladies.
Not really keen on it, but what about Sean Patrick flannery as Drizzt. I can see Michael Chikliss as Regis instead of Bruenor and what do you think of Brendan Gleeson as Bruenor?
Wulgar is 7 feet tall and huge. I'm thinking you may have to go get some big bad Norwegian actor or something. To me a lot of it comes down to legitimate accents. Not too many "American" actors can nail foreign accents.
I just can't see Johansen or Prepon as Cattie Brie. They are sexy but don"t have the sharp features Cattie Brie shouldhave. I was thinking maybe Milla Jojovich. Hot, and a proven bad ass in film. I like Jackman but don't know if he could quite capture the true Drizzt. Watch hellboy II, and consider luke Goss. He looks like drizzt in it already but white skin instead of dark. As for black actor versus white, I think drizzt simply needs to look elvish first, dark second.
okay seriously drizz't does not have to be played by a black guy. his skin is NOT dark brown, it is BLACK. and as far as casting, if there is ever a movie with robillard in it, he should be played by Alan Rickman. i'm not too big on hugh jackman as drizzt though

I liked all the casting except for Drizzt's and Wulfgar's. Drizzt needs to be a lighter set man not someone thats huge like Hugh Jackman. Wulfgars actor needs to be someone a lot bigger. He was describes as being a man with every muscle cording.
No doubt these D&D nerds in this movie don't do justice to the "real" charachters. Especially Bruenor and Regis- what up wit dat? Enteri sucks too but C.B. is a hottie.
Drizz't is nimble, fleet of foot, lithe, like a dancer and Hugh is too heavy, too large and not fleet of foot. An ideal candidate would either be the actor who played Darth Morl or the Elven Prince in Hell Boy 2 since both are acrobatic in nature. There are dozens of potentials out there. A good Artemis would be either Daniel Craig or Ong Bak. These characters are super nimble like gymnasts so they need to actually have these skills in life!!

The really good actor for a Drizzt would be Viggo Mortensen, he has sharp curves in face, ideal for a drow and on top, he is one of the best acctors and viggo is the only one that could live with his role of Drizzt. All of the books stands on Drizzt.
Wulfgar - if Josh Holloway hit the gym, but kept the same look he had when he played Sawyer from LOST. The resemblance to some of the book art, especially the cover of Spine of the World, is uncanny.
and that's not including the other major players Captain Duedermont who danial craig would be decent as...harkle harpell which in my opinion david tenant would do wonders for...akar kessall..no idea....nor can I think for Pasha Pook, or the two mages from the second book

Johnny Depp would be a decent Jarlaxle as well, but Hugh Jackman is indeed too tall, and brawny. Orlando Bloom would be great for the roll of Drizzt Do'Urden. All are good, plus you should do a Pwent, a Hralien ,and a Deudermont. P.S Russell Crow would be a good Artemis Entreri as well.

I actually totally agree with everyone you chose. About died laughing at Butler but I can totally see it. Drizzt I was worried about, seeing as he is the main character..I was thinking someone pretty like Orlando but Hugh would do a pretty good job I think. :) I'd be happy with that cast. Felicia Day would make a good Cattie-Brie - I'd be happy with her too.

No LOR actors, please. I like Gerard Butler, but I can also see him as Zaknafein instead. Jarlaxle should be someone who is funny and will look ok as a bald dark elf. Bruenor should be somebody older and more gruff. I think the actor from Hellboy 2 was great as Nuada, just needed to darken his skin a little, plus he's a good actor and can physically keep up.

I love your casting. Got tired of having to buy three books for one story though (with the middle book just filler for the corp stock margin). Rock on if you plan on making a VERY PROFESSIONAL movie of it. BUT PLEEEEASE, no third-eye, shaking-the-camera-to-death, and constantly wiggling the camera when not shaking it to death. It is very distracting and forces the audience onstage...it ain't their job! They belong in the audience; not on stage! But go for it, I would love to see a Drizzt movie!

ok i liked all but the one for drizzt. drizzt should probably be someone more prettier you may need to go with an outside person like Gackt or use Orlando bloom but he probably be better for one of the moon elf characters (just saying cause the book does say drizzt's is a every beautiful man)

@JankyToe all of them from the Dark Elf Trilogy to the Never Winter series. I didn't read the transitions however.Although it says once in the Starless Night that Drizzt is 5'5'' I could still not picture him that tall in a live action movie. Especially going up agents Gerard Butler.

Fan of Drizzt. We need to do something. If you are as impatient as me to see the Dark Elf in the big screen, plz organise. 2 conditions a) No cheap-4th-class movie and b) RA Salvatore as the co-producer/director to make them catch the book's spirit.

With Wulfgar it is so easy to go with a cheesy cast like a WWE wrestler. But let's not, I'm gonna get some flack for this but I think he fits the role and is a very good actor, Alexander Skarsgård. Catti-brie is a tough one, I'm gonna have to go with Anna Torv. As for Drizzt, I have trouble picking between Eamonn Walker and Aidan Gillen. Other considerations: Regis-John Hannah, Mooshie-Patrick McGoohan, Gromph Baenre-David O'Hara, Dantrag Baenre-Ray Park.

Jackman and Butler are completely wrong for this, in fact both would be bad choices for Wulfgar let alone Drizzt and Artemis. But Chiklis as Bruenor would be a disaster. I see Entreri as more like Oded Fehr, Said Taghmaoui or even Javier Bardem (he is from Calimshan after all), and I think Peter Mensah or Lance Reddick would make a great Zaknafien. Jarlaxle for me has to be Tim Roth (think Rob Roy). For Regis and Bruenor I pick Brian Cox and Brendan Gleeson or vise versa you tell me, I think

Entrerie and Drizzt both are shorter, slender, agile fighters. Jackman and Butler don't fit the bill. Not to mention are you going to have Jackman in blackface for the entire movie? lol. I agree with the Old Spice guy being Jarlaxle though. That's a match made in heaven.

awful! not one person i agree with! gerald butler, really? artemis is supposed to be sharp features and strike fear with a look, after he did that one romance-comady i have lost all intrest in him. hugh jackman is an over rated actor who got lucky with his role in the x-men, although the last one was just god awful.

Found a Scottish actress that may be a fantastic Catti Brie. Tiffany Mulheron. Even if you don't like her for Catti Brie, you'll still be glad I told you about her. seriously hot. Not a model turned actress but a legit actress.

Another thought for Aremis, Dominic Purcell. He's got the darkness, the physique. Butler is good but Purcell I think captures the natural darkside of Artemis. His natural vibe kinda says, "Don"t even think about it", yet he's still eye candy for the ladies.

Wulgar is 7 feet tall and huge. I'm thinking you may have to go get some big bad Norwegian actor or something. To me a lot of it comes down to legitimate accents. Not too many "American" actors can nail foreign accents.

I just can't see Johansen or Prepon as Cattie Brie. They are sexy but don"t have the sharp features Cattie Brie shouldhave. I was thinking maybe Milla Jojovich. Hot, and a proven bad ass in film. I like Jackman but don't know if he could quite capture the true Drizzt. Watch hellboy II, and consider luke Goss. He looks like drizzt in it already but white skin instead of dark. As for black actor versus white, I think drizzt simply needs to look elvish first, dark second.

okay seriously drizz't does not have to be played by a black guy. his skin is NOT dark brown, it is BLACK. and as far as casting, if there is ever a movie with robillard in it, he should be played by Alan Rickman. i'm not too big on hugh jackman as drizzt though

I liked all the casting except for Drizzt's and Wulfgar's. Drizzt needs to be a lighter set man not someone thats huge like Hugh Jackman. Wulfgars actor needs to be someone a lot bigger. He was describes as being a man with every muscle cording.

Drizz't is nimble, fleet of foot, lithe, like a dancer and Hugh is too heavy, too large and not fleet of foot. An ideal candidate would either be the actor who played Darth Morl or the Elven Prince in Hell Boy 2 since both are acrobatic in nature. There are dozens of potentials out there. A good Artemis would be either Daniel Craig or Ong Bak. These characters are super nimble like gymnasts so they need to actually have these skills in life!!

The really good actor for a Drizzt would be Viggo Mortensen, he has sharp curves in face, ideal for a drow and on top, he is one of the best acctors and viggo is the only one that could live with his role of Drizzt. All of the books stands on Drizzt.

Wulfgar - if Josh Holloway hit the gym, but kept the same look he had when he played Sawyer from LOST. The resemblance to some of the book art, especially the cover of Spine of the World, is uncanny.

I agree with most of the choices (Cate Blanchett is kind of a cheap casting choice though), but I don't like Michael Chiklis, Giovanni Ribisi or Hugh Jackman... They just don't fit in my head for some reason.
