His religion kind of reflects in his songs as well: In "Levitate Me" he uses a phrase which was used by the Christian Rocker Larry Norman, who, by the way, is one of his influences, and "Gouge Away" is the story of Samson... so...

for your information I was commenting in response to the above comments re: drugs. Furthermore the song IS about environmentalism and some aspects of religion specifically Hebrew numerology. And as for me, I do think a lot of aspects of organized religion ARE bullshit. I KNOW that Black Francis had many religious influences. It is very apparent in his music.

I can't stress enough how many of our favourite songs were written under the influence of drugs...and performed under the influence too. Not sure if i'd say reactions have much to do with anything when they're playing fairly tightly together..yes I am aware that weed (which is what i assume you are refering to) slows reactions, but it wouldn't make playing an instrument any harder

I'm a huge Nirvana fan, but the Pixies should've been the ones to break alt rock into the mainstream. They created the sound--they deserved the props. It would've taken some pressure off of Kobain, too--maybe he'd still be around...

no thats not true, i mean, what was to become grunge existed even before the pixies had recorded their first tape, i mean, think of green river, sonic youth, THE STOOGES, thats where grunge comes from, the thing is that you can only hear something on grunge that comes from the pixies on nirvanas last two albums (remember "incesticide" is not considered an album indeed), nevermind and in utero.
