@JreviewsYou Yes but the people whom this Psalm describes know exactly what they are doing and they hate the Creator with great relish. They are not ignorant in their rebellion against YAHWEH. This idea that YAHWEH is some milktoast pushover who will not judge and punish is a great deception. That's what happens when people take little bits and pieces out of scripture instead of reading it all. YAHWEH will judge and condemn all rebelliousness and lukewarmness.
Well the Psalm isn't about the people who don't know what they are doing, that is, people who are ignorant. It is about those who know and still sin, such as Judas, such as the Pharisees and priests etc.
If the Psalm is about David, and Jesus, then it also applies to those who belong to Christ - His martyrs. But it is God who gives the judgment, as He said, they will be held responsible for the murder of all God's prophets, from Abel to Zechariah (who was the last prophet to die at that time).
For everything there is a season. The Jesus that let them rip out His beard & prayed for them is the same Jesus in Rev 19:11-21 that whose robe is dipped in the blood of His enemies & casts His enemies into the lake of fire! There is a place where mercy runs out & judgement starts. See the duality.
As for grace, He was the scape goat. He took on the sins of the world. If ANYBODY ever needed grace it was Jesus! God's grace isn't just about forgiveness, it's protection, provision, care & more.
Shouldn't we count it as a blessing to be able to suffer for Christ's sake. I agree with you here, but I also don't know of any Christians who have been persecuted..I mean REALLY persecuted. Not just cursed at etc. Would you REALLY wish this upon anybody? I don't think I could. Good point tho. SM
Why? So one might do what is right? Wouldn't that be fake?
God never wanted us to do what is right out of fear. Nor does He want the righteous to worry about the judgment that is destined to fall upon the wicked. He wants the righteous to only trust that His justice will always be done.
I agree that such things will happen, but God never uses fear! The purpose of such prophecies is to show people WHY it happens when it does.
Exodus 20:20 Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."
Deut 6:13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
Deut 6:24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
Do a word search for "fear" + "Lord". You're wrong.
Exodus 20:20 Moses said to the people, "DO NOT BE AFRAID...."
There is a difference between being afraid of God and what is meant by "fear of the Lord". It is not fear but deep reverence and humility before the Lord.
Your "scriptures" also say "Perfect love casts out fear".
The point is, are you trying to make people afraid when they see this? Or show them WHY such things happen so that they may realize their sin and repent (see my previous post)
Perfect love is available to those who OBEY. Those who refuse to walk in His ways should FEAR because the curses of Deut. 28 & a bunch of other places WILL land on them. My intention is to show them what will happen if you do certain things. Like gravity, if you jump off a building, you go SPLAT. So don't. Being afraid of the consequences may be necessary to keep people from doing something stupid. We are stupid sheep. If they are already in the MIDST of consequences then they should repent.
"My intention is to show them what will happen if you do certain things." - Why? So they can be afraid and not do it? If a person does not sin because of fear, does that undo the original wickedness in their heart? Fear is blinding. If a person doesn't recognize why he/she is suffering from a curse, then what good does it do? It would be better had that person never been born.
There is no wisdom in fear because it obscures the truth, because of this, God never uses fear, so neither should you.

Matthew
10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

God must be feared:
Isaiah
8:11 Indeed this is what the Lord told me. He took hold of me firmly and warned me not to act like these people:
8:12 Do not say, Conspiracy, every time these people say the word.
Dont be afraid of what scares them; dont be terrified.
8:13 You must recognize the authority of the Lord who commands armies. He is the one you must respect; he is the one you must fear.

This Psalm is quoted in Acts 2 with reference to the apostate Judas ( Acts 2: 20 Psalm 109: 8 )

Sorry, you are scripturally in error.

It is not WHAT you say, but WHY you say it.
