  • Dude, that stuff is AMAZING don't be shy man be cool!!

  • both the top comments are by the same person lol

  • men whats wrong with you are you just to cool or in depression. Both the way are great, especialy depresion! But chear up you play great!!! ;)

  • more groove

  • Jesus man, Im a sophmore jazz major and you're way more fluent with your rhythm playing and chording than me. Man props. Chords have always been my weak point. I just practiced soloing too much i guess lol

  • @RyanMcShred

Haha, I need to work on the soloing a little more than chords right now. We're pretty much reversed.

I have been practicing the inversions of each chord and it helps me think through a lot more.

  • IMPROV BUD!!! you need to jam out more on the cords!!! change the melody and improvise a few choruses!!!

  • @Mathbones ditto.

  • Really groovy. Thanks!

  • cool : )

  • Very nicely done :)

  • the "Real Book" is a book compiled of many jazz songs that have withstood the test of time.. he's not making a joke about the book people lol.

  • I have the real book and the way you're playing it isn't written! That's awesome how do you do that?

  • @OpinionMan101

    Jazz is improv

I basically took the form/structure of how the piece is in the book and just used my own flavor.

If you see more advanced players than I, they do chord solos, and beautiful solos over the chord changes. Its a much higher level of musicianship that I.

Just try playing the chords, and find a way to work in the melody note as the highest note in the chords at the same time.

  • @thepilgrimsdream Thanks man I can't wait to try it!!

  • the book you're using is the real book?

whats the difference with the fake book?

  • @rudi492

Honestly i dont know the difference, i think they are both considered fake books. I'm sure wikipedia has the answer for you :)

  • @rudi492 a fake book is unliscensed and thus, technicaly illegal. a real book is the same thing but with the paperwork filled out

  • Great job! No need to be shy about your playing. Maybe lift the guitar neck up at a higher playing position, which will keep your wrist less bent at an awkward angle, and that will keep your thumb off the fingerboard more, and also prevent wrist injury

  • @stranjhay

Thanks, i'll try. I was developing signs of carpal tunnel late last year, the doctor made me give guitar a slight break. That might be why

  • excellent!! great job!

  • You are going to go far, you have the right combinations ( age, asking questions with an open mind, talent and drive).

    Good luck!

    jerry...

  • @mfn4u

Thanks for the encouragement dude, I try to be open minded and learn as much as i can. I do get lazy though. ha

  • name of the song? please

  • @juanperez0505

    Out of nowhere

  • Are you l/handed by the way, or have you got your webcam set to 'mirror'.. Looks like it, as the word Marshall is back to front!

    Keep going

  • @Jazzwayze

My camera does make things backward :/ ha. dont know how to fix it

  • @thepilgrimsdream

Somewhere in the settings for your camera there will be a box to tick or un-tick, to remove mirror settings. Might be in your camera manual! :)

    HTH Best of luck

    John

  • You only just started? Wow!

For this number you are doing real good, So my advice is keep up the good work, and practice 'chord-scales' as well as scales. That way you will hear some great 'fill-in' sounds. Try playing a standard called 'My Romance'. It should be in your R/book . It's nice and slow. Listen to the scales coming through as you play the chords and you'll hear what I mean. Check out Barry Greene on the 'tube. he does a short vid on the tune.

    Don't give up ever!

    John

  • @Jazzwayze
