It sucks.... I can barely get any of my wuss friends out on a simple day hike. I almost feel bad for them... they miss out on great hiking in the great outdoors everytime.
@27:27; hey nutn, where can i get one of these awesome dr. who style 3000 cubic foot backpacks? lol just bustin' your balls :) love these hiking vids, wish we had some terrain like that in FL.
I dont ever see you hydrate alli, im positive you do cause of your obviously love for her (she totally rocks by the way!!! your vids with her have made up my mind that a black lab will be my next pup.) But im curious about what your system for her is if its just a bowl you carry and a water bottle for her that you just recycle back to the bottle. just curious
I was on the fence about BuggetNuster's personality [After watching a good amount of vids now.] Rather then bash him in comments like a D-bag,I let it ride, whatever. That being said,I think this video showed a real cool side to him. Change my impression of him for sure. *That soft shit aside-Awesome vid, beautiful country as always. As you guys climb that slope,i'll climb thru more vids. Thanks Nutn & crew for all the hard work!
It's funny... I was SO thinking how I need to get off the sofa and get outdoors for some hiking. You guys were talking about that very same thing. Outstanding video... I very much enjoyed part one... now on to part two.
I would just like to say thank you to everyone that helps in the making if these videos, I really enjoy watching them. So i would just like to say thanks. :)
The combination of the music and video at the beginning made me feel like I was watching a video recap of Nutnfancy's life, almost like it was being played at his funeral. Which drives the point, get out there and make those memories! Great video, as usual, Nutnfancy.
Inspiring video. Keep up the good work; it is highly appreciated.
There are few things in life harder than putting down a great dog. I said goodbye to my best friend of 10 years in Jan 2008. My Boxer, Bismarck. I helped deliver him into the world and I had to send him out when he lost his fight with lymphoma. Devastating. But for 10 years he was as good as it gets.
my heart goes out to your bud for having to put his dog down. i had to put my lil buddy of 13 years (im 22) down, now he was a long haired chihuahua, good family pet and alarm system. His name was Hercules, we named him that because for such a little dog he was wicked strong, he could easily jump a good 5 foot in the air, slam someone in the back and knock them out the door if he didnt like them to much.
Alot of the people who say all you need is a small knife are always people who do everything in they're back yard. They can offord to do more then they have to because they can go in get a rest and order a pizza when they are tired. they don't know how tireing a five mile hike up a mountain would be. Anybody who can do that hike and then build shelter or fire with a 4 inch knife whould have to be superhuman
Nice vid! 5/5. Do you know if I can buy that dog pack in europe aswell ? Becuase i've got a border collie and i'd like to go hiking with him, as you do it :) How much was it?
Thanks for the great videos Nutnfancy, it's nice for me to watch these because let's face it, I'd like to be outside everyday, but with college and stuff I can't. But watching these videos is nice because I can at least watch you out in the wilderness doing what i wish i were doing at the moment.
Yes half the battle is getting out. But at the moment, my battle is getting my gear :( Then i can enjoy everything western british columbia has to offer!
Dude I totally dig the music choice for this series of videos, so calming, its just so representive of that area, I love the Western U.S. its so beautiful
Thanks so much for annotating what pack Allie wears while hiking. I have two Australian Cattledogs (Sydney and Ambika) and we love to hike. We had been looking at packs for the girls and that Kelty is what we will be buying. Once again keep up the great work.
It's midnight & 80 deg F. Fire crackers & fireworks are going off in the background because it's Chinese New Year. Lightning & thunder heralded rain & wind a couple of hours ago. & I'm watching High Skies thinking back to the time my friends & I went up to Big Bear & Arrowhead in the winter. Sigh...
Oh my... I literally just had to spit water out of my mouth cause I laughed so hard at the 18:20 mark — "thick body, big ankles so they won't snap on this stuff" — God that was priceless. Don't even lose the sense of humor TNP!
for those interested in a great portable UV water purifier for emergency or camping, shaneshop (dot) net sells the aquastar. Cost less than the steripen and has advantages over them.

Absolutely GORGEOUS views ... I could spend a month there and NOT care one bit. I bet this is one of the major reasons you keep going back to the same area. How about some reviews on Allie's gear Weight load, dog packs, basic gear available stuff like that ?
Kaboom, those dog reviews are SO on the table, its just a matter of Nutn getting time to do them. But they are coming, he knows viewers want them. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)
Nutn, quick question, what's the thinking behind carrying the poles point up? (you've got to have a philosophy on hiking pole carriage, surely! ;) ) Must be a reason, but I'd have thought that carries the risk of injury?
If I may answer, the ends of those poles are quite sharp, some have carbide tips. Being point up, the non-sharp handle is what contacts the pack and not the "business end".
Sweet. My brother lives in CO. We used to spend a lot of time up in the Sangre De Cristo mountain range winter camping with minimal gear. Good times.. Again nice vid's.
Crampons...! Where's your crampons!? You hit some ice on that steep terrain and you are HOSED! You'll be making like a rag doll all the way back to your truck... The poles are a great idea though!
I got to tell ya: I'm in the basement of a large medical complex monitoring surveillance cameras, radios, alarms, phones and all the rest. Overwatching my Officers to insure their safety. It's 0407 HRS and I've been at this for hours now. I cannot even tell you how much I would rather be out there breathing pine scented, frosty mountain air. Thankfully, for me, that's only moments away and I need to get out there. The visceral response your video illicited clearly underscores my need...
I love to hike, hunt, fish everything outdoors but the only problem is all my buds are sittin on their ass playin Xbox all day and all night and it drives me crazy knowing they will probly regret it for the rest of their life when they get older

Wow that looks so awesome!!! I'm going to do a hiking trip like this next weekend. Think I'm going down to Davey Crockett National Forest. No bears here, though.
Lots of guys may watch your video and say "dude, why are you breathing heavy?".
I can honestly say, that at 9100 feet, I would be laying down to catch my breath ever hundred feet or so!
OK, I'll be honest, I'm a little out of shape. I have lived most of my life below 900 feet, and am totally spoiled by all that oxygen stuff. On my last mountain hike (at 6200 feet) I was walking very slowly, and was very winded.
Some people have been inquiring as to the name of the song in the beginning of this video. So was I.
The piece is called "Long Road Ahead" by Kevin MacLeod.
The link is in the "More Info" section of this video and found under "Royalty-Free Music". If you're going to download it for free, make sure to say thanks and send Kevin an email. I did.
It sucks.... I can barely get any of my wuss friends out on a simple day hike. I almost feel bad for them... they miss out on great hiking in the great outdoors everytime.
Oh well.. I'll keep inviting them anyways. =(
It's their loss. =\

I'm a florida boy and a hike like that would probably kill me right now because of the thinner air but damn i'd love to get out there and try

I did.
