Die eindeutig beste auf youtube verfügbare Version ist die von Thomas Randle für die Hallenser Barockfestspiele 2001 von elias12186 (Danke!). Gegen den unbestritten großen Villazon ist Randle brillanter, ausdrucksstärker, präziser, kraftvoller und eindeutig "mehr" Händel!

Esta obra no es para él, así de fácil. La voz se cae en numerosas ocasiones llegando a desafinar no pocas veces. Ahora bien, para un público poco exigente, o para fans incondicionales, o incluso para mi, si me guardo la lupa pequeña, pues vale, es divertido y resultón; pero es que Hãndel suele funcionar con auditorios de lo más variopinto, no nos vayamos a olvidar del verdadero protagonista.

Wonderful voice! I'm sick of these thin-voiced singers that are a plague in baroque repertoire these days. I think it's great to see Rollando's voice giving such energy and passion to Händel's work.

Here (i mean in europe) there is ancient music studies, (in London, Barcelona, Basilea, München...) studies that a person who wants to sing baroque and ancient music has to reach. i don´t prefer singers with no voice (which i would say it is a paradox, don't you think??). What i prefer is a consistent work, i mean: if you want to sing Haendel,  you have to know a whole style of singing...it is not the same to sing Massenet or Haendel...

i do not like him in this repertory!!in my opinion he is out of the style, i do think he is an incredible tenor and i am sorry cause all we know he is having a bad time. But handel it is not something for what he has studied.

Where is the problem ? Well sung with a serious voice. Perhaps some people prefer to have singers with no voice at all for this old repertory ? Obviously i prefer that kind of rendition.

Great singing, but are all these moves really necessary ? Rolando sings Handel delightfully, but I think he overdoes the gestures a tad here. Try the other rendition conducted by Mc Creesh at St.Paul Church. The acting is much more convincing.
