  • if you put the whole onion in the freezer for 15-20 min before cutting, it will help stop the fumes from hurting your eyes.

  • for cutting onions use a food processor and get a gas mask (i heard those are stylish in all professional kitchens around the world ^_^). Also if you want the cut your fingers a knife works real well especially along the joints j/k. As for the cheese, that particular cheese is hard to come by in california. I either have to go to SF or Napa/Sonoma area. Oh well, Keep up the Great Vids. 5*s (^_^)

  • Food processor is fantastic for cutting down on the tears\prep time. However, PLEASE get a better knife, a good knife in the kitchen is worth every euro, if you think you're spending too much on it, then its worth it.

  • Best tip i learnt while cutting onions is to peal and store in fridge and when require u can chop this prevents crying while chopping onion try it and let me know.

  • use a larger and sharper knife to cut the onions. also cut them fairly quickly (not like super quick but dont take too long) and you wont cry so much

  • what kinda cheap knife is that ?! don´t u have a bigger cokng knife ?! the knife u use is more useful to fillet something.... use a sharpe and big knife and u wont have any problems with onions anymore....

  • You can use a 2-prong kitchen fork making it next to impossible to cut your self. You will also get faster at chopping and slicing.

  • hey you need a chefs knife instead of that knife your're using. nice to see your working on your cooking game.

  • you should use a big knife, like a chef's knife, when cutting onions. They are the big ones where the blade goes ~1 inch down past the handle, like a pointy meat cleaver. It is a lot faster to cut with a knife like that, so your eyes will hurt less. Also, avoid cutting the onion's root, that has the most sulfur compounds in it (the stuff that hurts)

  • If you're having trouble with the onion, one trick that I use is that I put the onion in the freezer for 30 mins to 1 hour before I need it. It really helps :)

  • For your onion, get a "Magic Bullet" and give it 1-2 push. and you'll have oinion all cut!

  • TIPS FOR CUTTING ONIONS:

    - Cut next to an open flame (like the stove) and you won't cry (Alton Brown on the Food Network)

    - I cut my finger really bad earlier this year. You need to curl your fingertips on the hand holding the vegetable. Like a claw instead of laying them flat. That way, the middle of your knife hits your first knuckle but the bottom of the blade won't hit your fingers!

    It takes practice and feels uncomfortable at first, but your fingers will thank you!

  • when you hold on the onion don't put your fingers straight on the onion .. curve your fingers in! like you doing a claw! and put it on the onion! that way you can't cut your fingertips :)

  • oh you need a bigger heavier knife. its less likely to slip out of your hand so you would cut yourself. big heavy knife means more control over it ^^

  • I use a cutco chef's knife. It's big, razor sharp, has a great curve for rocking, full tang and a great grip that won't slip.

    And I put a moist paper towl under the cutting board, better than just water. Also, wooden cutting boards are hard to clean, glass cutting boards are horrible for your knife.

  • Use a bigger knife when cutting an onion, and dont put water on the onion, keep a glass a water next to you while you are cutting it absorbs the strong fumes. When cutting place your 4 fingers (not thumb) and top of the onion. (your nails and knife should be parralel, so you dont cut your fingers at all. hope that helps. if you need any advice, i am a chef. feel free to ask anytime.

    I eat about 1.5 cup of rice or oatmeal or half and half and half a portion of fruit, with an ounce of meat before workout, and after, i eat the same amount but with a whole fruit this time, So I know my workout is way beyond intense and my recovery is the same.

  • How not to cut your fingers (even, if Zuzana won't see this)

    1. Sit next to the table, not stand. If you have to stand, the table should be on the level of your bellybutton. It gives you much more control.

    2. Throw away that knife:) to cut onions use bigger one, with thicker blade.

    3. Cut everything on the cutting board (don't even know if that's the correct name for it)

    4. Use separate cutting board for onions and garlic. Cut nothing else on it.

    5. Chew peppermint gum to avoid crying:)
