There was a TV show where American scientists wanted to do research on Whales... so they used a dart gun that took a skin sample the size of a pencil eraser, and from that they knew everything about the Whale's health, age, weight, sex, growth rate, diet, and most importantly, mercury levels! So if the japanese need to kill 900 every year just to learn of ONE item (diet), then how skillful are their scientists? They don't understand what technology can do when one chooses to forego brutality!

They bought whale meat at the local market and analyzed to discover that most of the meat belonged to whales that were protected back then.
