The reason is because the ancient Hebrew language is so dymanic you cannot translate one Hebrew for one English word, it would be better to give an entire sentence to get the entire meaning across. The word Elohiym is a plurar word for the "powerful ones, or mighty ones" but the context of the verse is the creator who is one God but who is complex in his being. Therefore God is the best English translation.

What it boils down to is that each one says things differently, and they don't always agree. Translating dead languages is an art after all.

Not a Christian here, but raised as one. I think the verse its talking about if she reaches out and grabs the other dude by the nards that its acceptable to cut her hand off, Not if she grabs her husbands, it plays well into the whole women suck and can't ever cheat on there husbands thing the bible has going on. Just my opinion though..on a BOOK that's been rewritten for different kings and translated from 3 different languages over the past 2500years

It doesn't matter who's genitals she grabs to stop the fight, how is cutting her hand off appropriate in the least bit? She's trying to stop violence from furthering by hurting the attacker where it counts most. The woman is trying to stop violence and she is punished for it, not only just once, but permanently by losing her hand. Do you not see something wrong with that?

@Rettequetette Except that almost all my visions from God were when I was not fasting or had not been fasting for quite a while. God doesn't want us to starve ourselves, stop thinking in human terms, FASTING disciplines the spirit and body and gives you power over your emotions. Its a great way to cleanse too... I'm sick of people equating visions to fasting, its not how it works, seek the Kingdom of heaven, READ the word.. ASK GOD for the HOLY SPIRIT and strive UNTIL He responds.

ITS possible, nothing is impossible for God. Just because you yourself have not read, asked God for the Living Water and finished the New Testament not to learn, but to receive something.. a NEW SELF... I was also a "Self Deceived Christian" for more than forty years. Then, I decided to read and study the "Holey Bubble" with an open mind. It's the biggest scam in the whole world. Religion actually teaches their followers how to continuously deceive themselves. Then they go on to deceive others with their "Phony Faith." How come no Christian has ever moved a mountain? Read the New Testament alone in your room, its only 200 pages if that... ask only for a new Spirit, Christ's, to make you ONE with Him... ask for the Living Water and heaven within revealed.. nothing else... ask away as you read it as fast as possible, stay pure while you do, no smut, porn, etc.. drunkenness, etc... finish it this way, before you finish you will know God, until you try all you do is judge without trying, assuming... peace man
