Hey Nathan! I've been owning my Mercedes s420 for around 14 years. I love this car more than any other. It not only has a supreme road presence and look, but it has a very exquisite ride and break-through engineering. Two years ago the leather started to tear an wear. It has gotten to the point where pieces just come off. The locks have to be opened manually. The rear windows have rolling problems also. Facing multiple issues do you think its worth keeping this car and fixing it or moving on?
These W140 Mercs had lots of wiring problems because of the "biodegradeable" wiring MB use. Make sure the wire harness has been replaced. Also check to see if the heater connections near the firewall are sound (plastic was substituted for metal). Finally, timing chain service is a big, big deal. Best of all worlds: a complete service history to make sure everything is up to snuff. Go to BenzWorld to see what owners think of this car. Okay, Nathan, one more thing: your cars look great!
Hey Nathan, can you tell me what you mean by the reverse things on the back of the cars boot? I first thought they were for diplomats flags....what are they for? too high up to be reverse senors.....
Also, in the compartment on top of the centre air vents, what are those buttons in there for? Never seen them before....
@Gavindwyer Sure Gav They are just to help you see the end/side of the car in th mirrors. When You put the car in Reverse they will come up. I have sold about 100 of these and Im still learning about them it seems. Not the most relevant of options but looks cool..;-) buttons in the center vent are for the Cell Phone..;-) Thanks for the SUB I do get A LOT of these cars between 10 to 20 a year ill bet. Cheers Nathan
@squidink14 He is in Southern California and fuel is fairly cheap..right now we pay about $3.50 US per gallon...much more expensive than it used to be but still cheap. And 24/25 mpg isn't great BUT the U.S. fuel economy numbers are much different than Euro cycle. Some compacts rated at 50+ mpg euro cycle only get high 30's when run on the US EPA loop to get their mpg figures. And even at 24/25 mpg, its not the worst for a petrol-powered 2 ton car with a V8.
@2003SCT You are dead on the whole difference its really weird how ALL their cars do better on the MPG its Politics and Cash handshakes from Big Oil.. Of course I'm always talking era for era etc and the New Hondas and Mercedes are much more efficient than these Classics but I do prefer the older cars..;-) I am traveling to Netherlands 2-3 times a year have been 9 times and have YET to rent a car LOL and I cant believe that because A guy just drives soooo much in the US and i DO Love My cars ;-)
@squidink14 LOL YES your Fuel is A LOT more But so is the distances in the states.. a 1300 Mile trip for me is the norm & You cant lock me in a Mini or a 325 BMW or Honda Civic etc for that distance Little Cardboard seats... 24/25 Is Great for Big n Safe the Saftey etc its a package deal heck a skateboard & a weedeater motor get 94 MPG but You wont Catch me on 1 I doubt i would drive if i lived in UK or Netherlands Your Public Transport ROCKS! Here a Honda may get 4-5 more MPG but come on..;-)
Nathan long time viewer, been talking to you for a couple o years now. Was wondering if you could video any 67-68 Impalas if you have any instock. I remeber you had a white wagon 68 Impala a while back. Please keep making these videos. they are fantastic. Informative and fun. I prefer to watch your channel than tv. Mack.
@scruffynerfherder90 LOL I almost bought a 68 Yesterday.. I have NO control over what i buy its just soooo random if it fits my 1 & 2 Owner and under 125K Im on it no matter the brand if its a maintained rig etc. I will have those as they present themselves but likely more of the 70-early 80's cause they havent popped in value yet. Thanks for all the comments and back & forths Its my Fav part of youtube..;-)
@CerealMarshmallows It is great being in contact with you. We can help each other compare knowledge on what's happening with values etc from across the ocean. I'm in Sydney Australia btw. Actually visiting America at xmas time for the first time, very excited. Let me know if your ever down under aswell.
@CerealMarshmallows Well we are headed to NYC, then Washington, Chicago, Aspen, Las Vegas, Then LA. basically working our way west. Wanted to go to san diego but no luck this time. If your in LA on business or what not, it would be cool to grab a bite and trade some tips. Best, Mack.

This one has been on EBAY a week im just Behind When You get ready let me know... Well if you can make up your mind between a Benz and a Big Body Cadillac That is....;-)
I've been looking for a long time to find the right W140. I'm pretty specific I guess. I already drive a C-Body Cadillac just love the W140s not sure which one to get. I'd love a coupe but they're hard to find and cost a lot more.
My dream car <3. I'll be calling you soon, Nathan . . . my college graduation is just around the corner, and I'm buying myself one of these as a "project car" and a "to me from me" graduation gift haha! BEAUTIFUL!

The key you use is the factory spare. They never had the plastic thing on it. Usually they came with two standard keys plus this all metal one.

You say you get good MPG (24/25). How is that good? Fuel must be so cheap there.

@2003SCT Okay I didn't know that. And fuel is very cheap there then, where I live in the UK I pay about £6.14 ($9.70 US) per gallon.
