@delirous8 this was the birth of hip hop, but i thinnk that thugs started using it in the 90's they only added more flavour and entertainment to the music but today it is only about bitches drugs and money
I just saw Kurtis Blow tonight at the Legends of Hip Hop and he rocked it. On top of that he came up to us and asked if we wanted to take a picture with him and chatted it up with us for a minute. A true entertainer.
Kurtis Blow remains to this day as my favorite rapper of all time. It didn't matter what he rhymed about. It was real and it was fun! Thanks for posting this :]
yeah this shit is way better than all this new crap.. honestly im sick of this chris brown shit.. they only sing about sex and about being cool and players and stuff.. see this music is about the fun...
i saw kurtis in like 79, as the MC, of the concert, and he would wind up the crowd between acts; it was incredible, the purest hip-hop I had probably ever experienced
man i would give anything to live in that era. sadly this is my talentless era. back than muxic meant something now its just a bunch garbage. its sad how kids of this generation have no taste in music.. dam i hate 2008
i agree only a few new rappers ahve the skill set Kurtis Blowhad, he can rhyme dj, dance, and graffiti..a true b boy, before it was called that...he learned how to rap from d.j. hollywood,. the first rapper ever, he was the mc for dj kool herc,
hip hop is all underground now, a few artists sometimes break through and make good hip hop thats mainstream like fort minor for example. i hate how this new crap they play on the radio claims to be hip hop, it just makes me sick inside.
I'm not really into hiphop but I agree with Criss Rock and he said "In the early days it was easy to defend HipHop but now, how do you defend, to the window, to the wall, to the sweat drip from my balls".
and the music has just gotten worse. i mean that soulja boy shit, thats not music its just some dude repeating him self over and over, he made a dance so hes hot, without the dance hes nothing..
rappers now need to make a dance to get radio play and none of them have any real skills.
I guess all the new rappers are sellouts then, because every rapper does commercials and sells their souls everytime they turn around. Kurtis was a pioneer who became big and took advantage of opportunities that came his way. Can you blame him? Can't say I would turn down a lucrative endorsement deal.
God made dirt, so dirt don't hurt! Lil' gurl don't let your mouth write a check your behind can't cash. I bet you thought that was "old as dirt" too, huh? But Kurtis is what's real!
nybody who says this sux obviously listens to shit and has no life because Kurtis is the Godfather of Hip-hop and ny1 who says he isnt needs to listen to som real music
kurtis! still rockin after all this time. he's fantastic. i'd rather hear this any day than two thirds of the crap out today. especially where hip hop is concerned.
'Just throw your hands up to the sky, wave around from side to side, if you deserve a break tonight some body say 'Alright!'. Kurtis for ever! Ya don't know shit about hip hop until you know where it came from! WORD...
OLD, OLD? A FUCKING PARTY YOU MEAN! Rappers of today don't even have the SPIRIT and CONDITION! Jezus people , you are old if you find this a annoying performance. Dream on in front of your TV hahaha
The only MC that can approximate the Titan MC is Common. He's 34 and can still out-MC about 98% of rappers and still breakdance, plus he has Sprite commericals. BEP still holds the spirit of the Kurtis Blow style of hip-hop, but its hard to find it in their recent surge of commercialism.
Hammer!! Damit bin ich GROß geworden!! Ich flipp aus!! Super Video! Hab noch die LP´s im Regal stehn, ich wär auch besser in München gewesen. THX for sharing!
Classic hip hop but my god does Kurtis Blow look old, he's lost all his muscles. When my dad got to the U.S. he told me one of his first favorite rappers was Kurtis Blow, I grew up listining to him in the 90s.
Kurtis Blow is one of the people who got me into rap back in the day. Back then you had to have talent, but nowadays it seems any fool who can rhyme gets a record contract....
There should be some dancers to help him. The song is cool but the stage is too small. And I kinda feel sad to look at a hip hop pioneer raps in small pubs looking for food.
If you think Kurtis Blow looks bad, you outta see the physical condition that James J.T. Taylor, formerly of Kool and The Gang, is in. He's a real tubby guy now. Sounds the same, no look the same.
Cologne Carnival is waiting for you :D!!!

There is a reason why this era was dubbed the Golden Age of Hip Hop
and then the second Golden Age in the 90s.
It's like now this past decade is the Dark Ages for rap music.
WiseUp89 1 year ago
@WiseUp89 thats because rap has entered mainstream. like big mainstream, so most people associate rap with that, and take their eyes off the legends.
