@EvilxMerlin Make your point or shut-up. If you knew anything about boost you'd know turbos vs SC deliver boost in different ways. The Camaro is at a disadvantage because it has a turbo vs SC it would be a better match with both cars boosted using SC's or Turbos. I own a Camaro SS that was making over 800hp. at the crank with only 7.5psi. of boost, we're now increasing displacement to 427 which will easily make over 1000hp. In other words I'd smoke any Mustang with my ProCharger setup.

Um, that was the manfuacturer's choice to go Turbo versus SC. The turbo has turbo lag, the supercharger can suffer fro heat sink. You pick one way you end up with it. End of story. I have a 2004 Terminator which puts down (to the ground) 745 HP, which is more than 800 HP at the crank. My displacement is still a measly 281ish cubic inches, and without boring out anything, I can easly make over 1000hp. Best thing? I did it all with bolt on parts and didn't touch internals.

The Shelby had about 4 hours of mods to change the blower to a KB. That Camaro had a ton of mods including a built bottom end and it still ran like shit. My GT500 with the Stg 3 KB I jest put on it at 20 psi will bust the ass out of anything GM puts out including that plastic piece of shit ZR-1. I caint wait to suck the paint of a ZL-1. After i bust one hsi owner will swap the pulley and then fry his hyperpathetic cast pistons.

I pulled out a 2010 silverado 4x4 from a ditch in the middle of a snowstorm with my 02 ranger fx4 with a 200lb plow on the front and towed it up to its lodge while we found out the driveshaft had fallen off the silverado. thats why they got stuck in a ditch, drove up the hill, driveshaft  deattached and slid into a ditch.

I just found out this morning while at Fastlane. Fastlane and Autograph are the same company! Well Fastlane owned Autograph that has now changed its name to something else but still owned by Fastlane. Both cars were not running a 1000 HP. Just the Shelby! the Camaro was running around 670! The Shelby was is still running on 93 Octane and made 1080 RWHP. On C16 it made over 1300 RWHP. The Camaro was running in the show with on 3 days of being built. Props to both cars. Houston Rules!

The Shelby is a screamer! I would think the SS is putting down way weaker torque numbers. Chevy hasn't been a big torque player. The Mustangs have always had good torque numbers. 5.4 with blower and cams and the 6.2 with turbo and cams what a competition. I am Major Ford guy but I liked the SS also.

In this test only. Willing to bet the the Turbo would have a higher top end if the race would have continued pass the mile run. Usually SC's create lag on the top end where Turbos on the low end. That Mustang does have a hell of a tune on it no doubt about that.

@oac579 you sound like a dumb ass super chargers dont have lag they may have belt slip from time to time depending on if they have the right size belt, idler, belt tensioner turbos usually have more torque but you still have to have hp to go along with it....superchargers are better cuz you never lose boost like with a turbo when you shift gears you loose boost and have to build it back up yeah it might now take very long but with a SC as soon as you hit the gas your in boost

@2008cobra1 Do to the fact that the supercharger is pulley driven, there is some strain put on the engine, thus robbing the motor of potential HP, which I described or has lag. Turbo's are more efficient, boost is controlled with a various combination of (turbo size, inter-coolers, waist gates). The main advantage of a Super Charger is lack of complexity and ever ready boost.

My point being again, The Mustang was well tuned but turbo Camaro should be able to produce better top end numbers.

@oac579 yes they are limited at 155 from the factory but they clime from 100 to 155 very fast and a simple programmer will take the limit way. i can hit 160 in 5th and still have plenty left the fastest ive hit is 173 and it gets there pretty quick but mine is not stock but i dont have 1000hp either.. and you say the camaro would have passed if they kept going but they were already at 190 how much faster do they really need to go???

@2008cobra1 The cars where only separated by a half a mph. The Ford did work well and had a gearing advantage for sure (3rd gear was a monster). The race was much closer than you think if you look at the speed and times. IMO I think a Lingenfelter prepared car would have destroyed that Cobra. ;)

@2008cobra1 But that is racing. Launch is an important part of racing but where that Cobra had the advantage was gearing. If we assume that the stock gear ratios are in place then the Cobra does a better job of staying in its power band then the SS but the SS has a lower final drive which in theory would give it a higher top end. Again the Cobra builders did a better job than those who built the SS in getting power to the wheels in a usable rev range.

Anytime you're testing tuner cars, you're testing out the tuner companies, NOT the cars. The results of the tests don't reflect those of the actual GT500 and SS.
