this was just to see whiat level of herding instinct 7-month old Riley had. There is no chance of losing a duck because the instinct to herd them is much greater than to kill them. Border collies herd both sheep and ducks and his mother and father are titled on both types of livestock. For me, ducks are more economical to raise so he trains on ducks. what's the idea? is this a step before sheep? I guess you'd rather lose a duck than a sheep.
