My friend went to hospital this Halloween dressed in a full David Bowie costume. Like, Ziggy Stardust head to toe, painted face and everything. He lay on the street and was sick in a gutter for a while before his trip in the ambulance. Unsurprisingly he doesn't drink anymore
i never want to comment on this because it makes it seem like i'm more interested in your physical appearance than your personality but YOU HAVE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EYES <333
That literally just sounds like a typical Friday night for most people (myslef included) that I know. Yeah we are also the kind of people that discuss literature and stuff but that doesn't mean you can't also be the type of person who drinks and parties as well.
As someone from the UK, where the legal drinking age is 18 and the normal age to start drinking at parties is about 15-16 (or younger than that if you live in a big city), this seems like a pretty standard night. Something will probably go wrong, although not always to the point that someone is bleeding. Although my friend did go to visit someone and ripped open their finger...
The best is when unbeknownst you start pointing your bloody hand at people saying: "Who's bleeding?" Flinging your blood all around the room......good times.
hahaha You're awesome. I'm afraid that will be me one day. I am known for doing stupid things *sober*. Thankfully I haven't drunk-hurt myself. Yet. Except walking into a tree. I'll just steer clear of glass.
And this is why I don't drink. Not because I'm scared to, just because I don't want to. Until I turn 21 next year and order some fruity drink and get carded with weird expressions because I look like I'm 16.
Thank you, Hayley, for warning all the other underagers, and I'm glad you're okay =P
It's so odd to think I've been legally able to drink for over a year here in the UK, and I'm nineteen. I'll never truly understand the US drinking laws.
I had to watch the video again because I couldn't get over the fact that you have an inside joke with yourself about Zelda Fitzgerald. Now, I would never be so forward as to ask you to marry me just like that, and, no, I didn't just delete a beautifully written marriage proposal because it sounded too creepy, but I think we should get together and get to know each other better. For the sake of our future children.
i was recently at a party where i had a great time telling everyone the story of my friend being in A&E on halloween .... ive only just now realised that i heard the story from you and it wasnt my friend .... whoops!
Daisy Buchanan is described by Fitzgerald as the "girl whose disembodied face floated along the dark cornices and blinding signs". Seems your inebriated head floated into a fish tank.
I happen to have just taken a break from reading Gatsby to watch this...I find that highly Ironic. Like the book is siting less than a foot away from me.
Drinking is a national thing. I'm French, I tasted alcohol for the first time at three months old. You know the champagne baptism or whatever. But maybe it's because once you've seen your best friend and your cousin vomit their life on your bed, that you just can't abuse alcohol. Ever.
On Halloweekend I went to a party an hour away from home with a guy friend of mine who drove. I had a little too much to drink, he was completely sober and drove me home and on the ride home kept talking about how I thought he had a cute butt and wanted to kiss him. And then the next day, I found out he has a girlfriend. Woops.
I've only ever had one sip of alcohol in my life, and that was because once at church they forgot to tell us it was the rare occasion they decided communion would be alcoholic...I nearly threw up :/
I personally have no interest in it. It stinks (and I now know it also tastes vile), it's ridiculously expensive and I've seen it do terrible things to people. Count me out, I'm perfectly happy with a soft drink.
This past weekend my friends and I had a celebration for my 21st birthday and though there were no injuries, I will forever have the image of my best friend rolling around on a bed laughing and repeatedly saying "This is so much fun!"
Aw, Hayley is so cute. When she started talking about how people were either not attracted to her gender or in a committed relationship, I expected something WAY worse than what actually happened.
I always forget how awesome and funny you are, and then you make another video and I remember all over again. Also, I will definitely learn from your mistakes.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a rough Halloween. I went to a party with my boyfriend of 6 years. Well I was dressed as GI Jane...Got so drunk (I never drink), I blacked out...called other girls sluts and said I looked better than them without being in sexy outfits...gave some random guy a lap dance, and kept insisting to my boyfriend that I had a connection with this other guy.... it wasn't my finest moments, and why I will never drink like that again...*sigh*
I've only had ONE night like this when I was an exchange student in Denmark. I think it was a good experience because I definitely learned my lesson. I remember breaking a lamp in the bathroom and sitting against the door contemplating what to do until my friend forced her way in and I said "it wasn't me it wasn't me it wasn't me x2937"
I haven't heard a funnier drinking story since my friend walked into her house with a penis drawn on her face and her mom didn't tell her about it for four hours.
I can't help but laugh! I have quite a few funny drinking related stories, all from uni. Now I've left, I don't really drink that much any more. I think everyone needs to go through that crazy drinking stage so you know what your limits are.
HAHAHAH I am so glad to hear this story. I really really enjoy when you youtubers are straight with your viewers. Don't hold back. It makes you so much more relatable! No one is perfect...
When I was 8 I ran into a wall on Halloween night and had to go to the hospital and get stitches. There was a girl there who was drunk and dressed like supergirl. I can't remember if she was hurt but yeah, it was extremely awesome. Too bad Zelda Fitzgerald isn't exactly accessible for young kids or you could have totally made someone's night.
I don't think theres any shame in responsible drinking... even slightly underage (as most of the world isn't underage at 18, 19, 20 like us Americans), so, I don't think talking about drinking is irresponsible or sends the wrong message as long and you simultaneously only promote drinking in a safe environment, which you did. Just... maybe keep the fragile glass aquariums in another room on party nights :P
While listening to this there were several things that popped into my head, what does your Alabama accent sound like, are the turtles okay, and your parents seem really awesome.
Oh my god hahahahhahahahaahhaa, in all honesty drinking can be good because 1. it's funny at the time, 2. it leads to funny stories and 3. those stories can be good conversation starters/topics.
i am slightly offended by what you said to, presumably, defend your attire on the night in question. dressing a certain way, ESPECIALLY on Halloween, is not an invitation for people to hurt you and dressing sexy shouldn't be shameful or something you have to defend!
this is the kind of slut-shaming stuff we were trying to fight with the Slut Walks... being a certain gender, dressing sexy, or even actually being promiscuous SHOULD NOT make it more likely that you will get hurt!!! (cont. ...)
@B1ueCadet3 Furthermore, assuming or admitting that dressing sexy makes it more likely for someone to get hurt is putting some amount of fault or responsibility on the person who gets hurt by sexual assault. This is not good, not true, and not something we should be thinking!
If you want to defend yourself for dressing sexy on Halloween, go for it (although I personally don't think you should have to!), but please don't imply that dressing sexy can lead to "getting hurt".
@B1ueCadet3 For example, I usually dress very "conservatively" because I have what is generally considered an "appealing" body shape and I just don't like people staring at me. The ONE TIME I wore a short-ish skirt and heels and a somewhat-tight shirt, a grocery store employee clocked out, got in his car and followed me as I walked home. I have every right to dress that way, and I deserve to not be scared every time I do, but you can't say that it won't make *someone* think you're asking for it.
@geegeezlouis86 According to large-scale studies, sexual assault does not occur more often to women who are dressed in a revealing way. I'm not talking about anecdotal experiences, I'm talking about statistics.
That's not to say that dressing in a sexy way wont get you unwanted attention---I fully understand that, and like you, have gotten unwanted attention because of my clothes and body before. But there is a HUGE distinction between unwanted attention by assholes and sexual assault.
@B1ueCadet3 To reiterate, I completely understand and for the most part agree with what you're saying, but I don't think that Hayley was touching on that at all, and again I resent that you think that dressing provocatively will never put you in harm's way. It absolutely shouldn't be that way, and anyone who thinks that girls really are "asking for it" are twisted, but it happens more often than you seem to think it does, sadly. :(
@geegeezlouis86 Dressing provocatively WILL NOT put you in harm's way! Being around people who think it's okay to sexually assault you, however, WILL put you in harm's way.
And as long as people still think a sexy girl is "asking for it" on some level, there will be more people around you who think it's ok to sexually assault a girl because of how she's dressed. Which is the problem.
If our society didn't accept this "she's asking for it" idea, then it wouldn't exist. That's my main point.
@B1ueCadet3 I 100% agree that the slut-shaming is a HUGE problem in this country, but I don't get the feeling that this is what she was talking about. She was just saying that she was comfortable going to that party wearing something that, as far as I've seen, isn't a normal fashion style for her.
However, the facts remain that dressing that way CAN give some whackos the wrong idea.
"It's fun to be Zelda Fitzgerald for the first two hours. And then you're in the hospital and Wendy the Nurse is laughing." Words to live by. Hahahaha. Thanks, Hayley! If it were me, I probably would have ended up tripping over the broken aquarium and impaling myself--and that's WITHOUT alcohol--if that makes you feel better.
oh my god. i have so many of these stories. there should be an entire youtube channel devoted to "this are the shenanigans you get into while intoxicated".
what about the turtles? dont you care about animals at all? at least the hoast must be sad about his "pets" beeing dead because at a party some drunken idi** did crash his aquarium.
My friend went to hospital this Halloween dressed in a full David Bowie costume. Like, Ziggy Stardust head to toe, painted face and everything. He lay on the street and was sick in a gutter for a while before his trip in the ambulance. Unsurprisingly he doesn't drink anymore

@B1ueCadet3 But she wasn't defending her attire?
alucidminute 3 months ago
