Those buildings were built to withstand multiple hits by airliners. The outer walls were built to transfer the weight load when damaged, which is exactly what they did, they worked perfectly. No building can withstand a controlled demolition.

Thermite is aluminum and metal oxide. The outer skin of the trade centers over an steel structural support system. If you add high heat the reaction would be Thermite. For a better explanation see google termite
