  • Ghosthead69, yes, thanks for the heads up - I knew I was being too general for it to be true in every case. Hope you're enjoying the lessons as much as I am.

  • @PhilipBorrell Considering this video is most popular with men ages 35-64, says YouTube, I doubt many of those comments were from teens, where did that stereotype come from anyway? I'm seventeen, just to clarify.

On another note thankyou Mike for the lessons, absolutely brilliant x

  • you are tailoring a classic song to tailors. This piece is not for beginners. You should be teaching it the right way

  • Thanks a lot mike... Your lessons give the intricate details in such a lucid manner... thanx a ton for the beautiful lesson.. this piece appears conquerable now!! Thanks again :)))

  • I was kinda hoping to learn to play it with the barre chords, after learning it this way do you think it would be a hard transition to play it with barres? or should I just stop here and learn from the tabs? I've learned all three parts to this in two days or so and can play it at a pretty good speed (about 3/4 of your full speed) without any mutes or buzzing.

  • Best Classical Gas instructional video on YouTube! No joke! A little slow for some people but you can skip ahead because he always recaps his previous lessons.

  • Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You and Thank You some more!

  • Mike - I'm not surprised at your apparent disillusionment re the comments here; the internet can destroy your faith in human nature (am I being too unkind in suggesting the number of complaints might be due to the high number of teen users?). Anyway, I think your work here, in making classical gas accessible to guitar players of my calibre, is nothing short of brilliant. Thanks a lot!

  • @PhilipBorrell You are most certainly right. Many people (especially teens) debunk things simply to look "cool" and/or to sound like they have superior knowledge. Having said that, I myself am a teen (a male teen to be exact), and I quite enjoy these lessons. So Mike, keep it up! :D

  • Killer lessons Mike! Thanks for taking the time to put these together, it makes it soooo much easier to learn for me and I love the fact you did the whole song in little sections. :D

  • thank you very much sir!

    nice series.

  • @xMrCustom24x your bad not the lesson.

  • I have not touched my guitar for years. Just picked it up and remembered up to this part! I feel like your videos have not taught me, but rather my fingers!! :) thanks so much for these videos, look forward to getting through them again, they are so much fun :)

  • Thanks

  • i cant spread my ring finger and pinky finger on 5th and 7th thread!! will they be able to reach eventually or were my hands never meant for the guitar?

  • @wickychang just keep playing, the more you play the easier you find it

  • you ruined it. It was all good going and then you screwed up.

  • amazing mike thank you.. i agree with archer.. couldn't have said it better myself.. looking forward to continueing with these lessons.i was ready to give up half way throught the first lesson.. i'm a beginner, so it took me three days to master the first but i am so looking forward to getting through this one and on to 5... there really is no other song that hits me like this one.. it is wel appreciated. many thanks..

  • I'm not sceerda' no barre chords. I'll just hack and slash till I get it. If Mr. Williams thought the coloring important what's the chance of learning it true to him?

  • scary, im scared, but im really gonna try at these lessons because i have always loved this song. i hope to god i can learn it it would be a great lifetime achievement!

  • thank you very much for your effort

  • Thank you Mike! Very good lesson. To all those saying this/that is incorrect, see if you can teach it better. It is harder to do when you slow it way down. This is a difficult tune which can be played many different ways and you have to put your own licks in to personalize it. The point is getting the chord progression & timing right for the overall context. The lighting, sound, and camera angles are excellent IMO.

  • first... thank you very much for making this available.. very cool!!!

so..... is the right ring finger used for picking in this lesson??

  • parts of that are incorrect

  • @jpike2k3 shut up no one cares.

  • @XxizikbxX lol ur sad

  • hes missed a part

  • You are a fantastic teacher...The bar chords should be used though, at least in a separate video. Greatly appreciated!

  • They're given at the start of the video

  • great just great :D/ thank you

  • if you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk...

  • but... barre chords are better...

  • howcome the end to your part three.. doesn't match the one you show in this part... it's very confusing

  • Bite sized, I love it. Like so many others I have avoided this beautifully written song my whole life until your lessons. No other guitar song quite stikes me like this one. The sound and the timing are impeccable ,one of the greatest songs for guitars on the planet. Whenever I hear this song I feel sorry that the old timers like Bach and Beethoven never had a chance to hear it. I think thay would have smiled and said "Of course, why didn't I think of that". A long thank you.

  • "Of course, why didn't I think of that". lol well said. i agree

  • As do I well said

  • good

  • great lesson - thanks a lot - I've always wanted to learn this

  • Barre chords? Yes I did dispose of them.

  • could you do a video with the bar chords for us who are not actually scared?

  • Your a great teacher, but your not playing the song with every note. If you have the musik with all the notes (not a simpler version) could I get an e-mail of the sheet musik or tablature? many thanks.

    -btw

I did learn alot from your videos, great teaching!

  • One of the greatest buildups of any song written after 1950.

  • I'm 52 plus years old and have been playing since college. One of the items on my "bucket list" has been to play Classical gas. It looks like I may accomplish this. Many thanks. Can you develop the bar code version of the lessons as well. I would like to learn those cords as well.

    many thanks,

  • Thanks a lot! much better than watching porn and doing nothing :) can you please teach Jesu, joy of mans desiring...I'd really appreciate it very much thanks!

  • lol.. slomodirector subliminal messaging?!?

jk, but thanks for the vids!

  • Mike, these videos are great! I've been playing for a few years and i've always wanted to learn this amazing piece but was way too lazy to work it out or learn from tab, shame on me i know, but thanks alot

  • I think this is tru for most of us :)

  • hahahah!! pretend b flat thats so funny ... nice vids,

  • People have trouble with bar chords but they don't have trouble with all the shred-like movements? I'm the opposite!

  • me to lol

  • thanks for the lessons

  • Mike, youre the best!

  • Great teacher, I have so totally learnt so much but I was wondering if theres a tab for this because all of the ones on ultimate-guitar are wrong, do you have your own?

  • hey mike..you r the best teacher...when i first herd the song..i thought its a killer piece...but with your guidance i have learnt it up till here....thanks man keep rockin

    cheers :]

  • me too!!!! thanks Mike

and i'm doing it on a classical guitar btw

  • THANK YOU! NO BAR CHORDS!

  • I KNOW! ISN'T IT GREAT?!?!?

  • LOL Totally!

  • Bars aren't that hard once you spend some time with them. It's really worth the pain. You just start thinking of them as regular chords once you've gotten used to them. I learned Stairway to Heaven (ouch!!), then Tears in Heaven (ouchhhh!!) and then Layla. After that, nothing hurts! XD

  • brilliant, ive followed all of the classical gas videos and in about four hours worth of playing ive got everything up to here down really well

you are an excellent teacher, id love to see more of your stuff, its very detailed and you give some great pointers

  • brilliant videos, i've wanted to learn this song for awhile now

  • Man... this is totally amazing!!!

Thanks for the lessons... It 's very easy to learn with your guidance :D!!!

  • you rock! i looked up the tabs for this song and they were all wrong. i couldn't learn it until i found your videos. thanks for all the help, all my friends are surprised at how much better i got.

  • nice stuff!!!

  • freacken GREAT VIDEO love the way you put everything together

  • hey mike, thank you, i never had a teacher, and i was very stale, you have truly brought the guitar to life, thank you again.

  • If someone told me a few weeks ago that I could learn to play classical gas I would of said no way!Now i'me not so sure.Keep them coming Mike!!!

  • "Best Teacher Ever" (as spoken by Comic Book Man from the Simpsons)...never thought I would even attempt this song and I'm actually getting it...thank you!!

  • never thought i would play classical gas mike, thanks for making it look easy

  • Guess what's going to be showing here about an hour from now?

  • @helisell Thank you very much, this has been the easiest lesson I have ever been taught. Please keep making these. I am excited to start the 5th lesson.

  • Hey Mike. Hope your relations are okay. Ignore the whiners! You always give a little bit of next part anyway. People should be able to work it out. Take your time mate. Family first.

  • All the best Mike, Take your time.. we'll be here when your ready. Family comes first ALWAYS.

  • i agree bernesepuppy, quit your whining peter it's not like you're being forced. damn!

  • Thanks so much mike! I was one of those that put the instrument away for a while, trying to figure out which direction to go.You have helped me see the way. I can't wait for section 5,it looks like so much fun!!!

  • Hi Mike

Thank you for all the work you are doing on this and other pieces. There are always people who will complain and it seems some people are inpatient.

I think the pace is correct as I do have a job and a family to occasionally spend time with. Instead of complaining make sure each lesson is practised as practice makes perfect.

    Stephen

  • Hey Mike,

Great video on a very difficult piece and can't wait till you have all the pieces done! Hope it is soon. Thank-you so much for posting the series. David

  • Nice job on this one!

    Really was quick to learn!

Will you be showing us how to do it with the bar chords as well? I'm guessing most of us that can really play bar chords can figure it out fairly easily - but just a lil go-over would be nice!

    Thanks Mike!

  • thanks alot , these videos are amazing , so quick to learn keep it up im checking daily for the next one.

    Chris

  • Thanks guys....I though I was going a bit daft....why do people moan?....why don't they just post their own videos?

  • still waiting when u r gonna teach us how to play dersperado "el mariachi"song, me and a bunch of my friends who adore u as a geat guitar teacher thanks

    Jackson.

  • as always a great guitar video , so easy to follow and learn keep up the good work Mike

  • Hi Mike. The reliability and continuity of your help is fantastic. I'm concentrating on Sweet Home Alabama at present, but have set my sights on learning this piece in the not to distant future. Gary.

  • Hey, Mike. You mentioned that you eliminated all of the bar chords later on in the song and replaced them with easier versions of the same chords. I personally think it'd be cool if you showed both versions when you get to that point in the song. Thanks!

  • I just did!!??

  • hey mike great job never thought i would playing this song. thanks

  • great job mike.......thanks for all the help. i've always wanted to learn this song.

  • Ace lesson yet again Mike.

  • the only problem... you teach so well it only takes 5 minutes to learn and then you have to wait for 2 weeks.... you're killing me

  • Nah.........4 videos out since 15th of May = 1 video per week!

  • you say in the first video that the hole thing will be done in one month... I just think the pace is too slow. I know it's a marketing thing, but it's painful.

  • Thanks Mike for the good work you do

can`t wait for the remaining parts

    Cheers Achim

  • Thanks Mike - im very grateful for the lesson - dont care how short they are - you can do them in one second sections if you want - point is Im learning!

  • cheers this series is really good and i'm finally learning classical gas. my mate at uni played this constantly last year and i was so jealous of him. if the sections are going to be so small can the lessons come faster please?

  • Mike you're a tease but keep 'em coming

  • can you make the lesson longer, it's a little short

  • Superb, as usual, Mike. As for doing away with barre chords, some of us would like the definitive version, how about an intermediate alternative.

  • class pure class 5 stars
