Ghosthead69, yes, thanks for the heads up - I knew I was being too general for it to be true in every case. Hope you're enjoying the lessons as much as I am.
@PhilipBorrell Considering this video is most popular with men ages 35-64, says YouTube, I doubt many of those comments were from teens, where did that stereotype come from anyway? I'm seventeen, just to clarify.
On another note thankyou Mike for the lessons, absolutely brilliant x
Thanks a lot mike... Your lessons give the intricate details in such a lucid manner... thanx a ton for the beautiful lesson.. this piece appears conquerable now!! Thanks again :)))
I was kinda hoping to learn to play it with the barre chords, after learning it this way do you think it would be a hard transition to play it with barres? or should I just stop here and learn from the tabs? I've learned all three parts to this in two days or so and can play it at a pretty good speed (about 3/4 of your full speed) without any mutes or buzzing.
Best Classical Gas instructional video on YouTube! No joke! A little slow for some people but you can skip ahead because he always recaps his previous lessons.
Mike - I'm not surprised at your apparent disillusionment re the comments here; the internet can destroy your faith in human nature (am I being too unkind in suggesting the number of complaints might be due to the high number of teen users?). Anyway, I think your work here, in making classical gas accessible to guitar players of my calibre, is nothing short of brilliant. Thanks a lot!
@PhilipBorrell You are most certainly right. Many people (especially teens) debunk things simply to look "cool" and/or to sound like they have superior knowledge. Having said that, I myself am a teen (a male teen to be exact), and I quite enjoy these lessons. So Mike, keep it up! :D
Killer lessons Mike! Thanks for taking the time to put these together, it makes it soooo much easier to learn for me and I love the fact you did the whole song in little sections. :D
I have not touched my guitar for years. Just picked it up and remembered up to this part! I feel like your videos have not taught me, but rather my fingers!! :) thanks so much for these videos, look forward to getting through them again, they are so much fun :)
i cant spread my ring finger and pinky finger on 5th and 7th thread!! will they be able to reach eventually or were my hands never meant for the guitar?
amazing mike thank you.. i agree with archer.. couldn't have said it better myself.. looking forward to continueing with these lessons.i was ready to give up half way throught the first lesson.. i'm a beginner, so it took me three days to master the first but i am so looking forward to getting through this one and on to 5... there really is no other song that hits me like this one.. it is wel appreciated. many thanks..
I'm not sceerda' no barre chords. I'll just hack and slash till I get it. If Mr. Williams thought the coloring important what's the chance of learning it true to him?
scary, im scared, but im really gonna try at these lessons because i have always loved this song. i hope to god i can learn it it would be a great lifetime achievement!
Thank you Mike! Very good lesson. To all those saying this/that is incorrect, see if you can teach it better. It is harder to do when you slow it way down. This is a difficult tune which can be played many different ways and you have to put your own licks in to personalize it. The point is getting the chord progression & timing right for the overall context. The lighting, sound, and camera angles are excellent IMO.
Bite sized, I love it. Like so many others I have avoided this beautifully written song my whole life until your lessons. No other guitar song quite stikes me like this one. The sound and the timing are impeccable ,one of the greatest songs for guitars on the planet. Whenever I hear this song I feel sorry that the old timers like Bach and Beethoven never had a chance to hear it. I think thay would have smiled and said "Of course, why didn't I think of that". A long thank you.
Your a great teacher, but your not playing the song with every note. If you have the musik with all the notes (not a simpler version) could I get an e-mail of the sheet musik or tablature? many thanks.

I'm 52 plus years old and have been playing since college. One of the items on my "bucket list" has been to play Classical gas. It looks like I may accomplish this. Many thanks. Can you develop the bar code version of the lessons as well. I would like to learn those cords as well.

Mike, these videos are great! I've been playing for a few years and i've always wanted to learn this amazing piece but was way too lazy to work it out or learn from tab, shame on me i know, but thanks alot
Great teacher, I have so totally learnt so much but I was wondering if theres a tab for this because all of the ones on ultimate-guitar are wrong, do you have your own?
hey mike..you r the best teacher...when i first herd the song..i thought its a killer piece...but with your guidance i have learnt it up till here....thanks man keep rockin
Bars aren't that hard once you spend some time with them. It's really worth the pain. You just start thinking of them as regular chords once you've gotten used to them. I learned Stairway to Heaven (ouch!!), then Tears in Heaven (ouchhhh!!) and then Layla. After that, nothing hurts! XD
you rock! i looked up the tabs for this song and they were all wrong. i couldn't learn it until i found your videos. thanks for all the help, all my friends are surprised at how much better i got.

Get a Paypal account, buy Mike's videos people! I'm very happy with all my purchases, and my guitar playing has improved immensely. Pay for a song once and the music is yours to play for life.

Aw Mike, you didn't have to show a sample of what's next you bugger, now you've made me dribble. BTW the £1,40 ish is mint IMHO. Just look at what you are getting for free. Donate this small amount and contribute to his bandwith costs and you just know that the freebies will keep on coming! THANKS MIKE you made a happy man very old????
