  • Quote from wiki: Fall of Longvek or Lovek (1594)

「More than their conquest of Angkor a century and a half earlier, the Siamese capture of Lovek marked the beginning of a decline in Cambodia's fortunes. One possible reason for the decline was the labor drain imposed by the Siamese conquerors as they marched thousands of Khmer peasants, skilled artisans, scholars, and members of the Buddhist clergy back to their capital of Ayutthaya.」

  • Appreciate very much for sharing, i love the music background. Or KUN.

  • Do not say Khmer king from India. There was no trace of that. The people who grown up within Sovanaphoum area. I don't think Kaudinya was an Indian. Everyone always think that this art from India, but not. The designed of building was God Krong Bali or Preah Pisnoka.

He is the God from Heaven. Even the Pyramid in Egypt, Great wall in China which were from God designed. He left Cambodia to China. Now he is back to Cambodia. He is going to build another Castle called Prasat Than Sour.

  • @max1235567 - NO trace of Khmer King from India? Do you know where the word Cambodia coming from? My advice to you is to search on Google List of country named after people.

  • I like this music!

  • Khmer Cultur is so beautiful !!!!

    So peaceful with so charming.

  • so beautiful cultur !!!!

    Love Srok Khmer !

    And great Traditional Khmer music

  • Why can siam people study the true history of their culture? They are a carbon copy of khmer culture.

  • thank you for uploading this great khmer heritage, i like it so much

  • Lets say, If Thai steal Khmer so Khmer steal India as well.....if it not. Thai neither

  • @phutipz Khmers did not steal anything from India. We were directly taught Hindu/Indian culture from the Indians who migrated east. From then on, India and Cambodia had a social and cultural relationship. This was before Theravada Buddhism which we later adopted from our Mon cousins. All of this happen centuries before Tai people came from the North which at that time the Khmer Empire was at its peak. During this time, the Tai people was oppressed by their Khmer rulers.

  • @phutipz Our Mon cousins too were oppressed but most were pushed back to what is now Burma. Centuries later the Tai people rebelled their rulers and established their own kingdom. They invaded the capital of Angkor and the Tai king commanded that they teach them our culture and dance. An example is the Royal Court of Thailand which you can't deny that the Khmer taught. But all in all India>Khmer>Thai/Lao...happy now? Also believe it or not, majority of Tai people have Khmer blood...

  • Let's go back to the places where Tai ethnic came from. Did they dress, dance, or build their architectures similar to Thai/Siam people in Thailand? If not than Siam adopted and adapted the Khmer cultures and the native people that have been living there for thousands of years before the arrivals of Tai groups. Khmer history and cultures were written in stones and stones tablets. Anybody can go see those artefacts in Cambodia, Thailand and Laos.

  • @usaguru1 Khmer dog Stop coppy thai culture This dance was born in the era after the Ayutthaya period. Stop spinach network of Thai culture.

  • @tonnum53 Whatever you say is just pure ignorant. A Chinese diplomat Zou Daquan who visited Cambodia in the year 12xx wrote that he witnessed Khmer dances and a grand Khmer king procession. Thailand took everything from Cambodia dancers, musicians, and other artefacts and labelled them as Thai. Even you yourself probably have Khmer blood, better check your DNA because Thailand belonged to Cambodia before Thailand became a nation, u might have Khmer ancestry and not know it.

  • @usaguru1 Stop lying. Kingdom of Thailand with a gold Grand procession of the king of Thailand, Chinese and Japanese diplomats said that Thai culture is great. Khmer built from stone and spinach A method of creating a Thai palace. Wang exquisitely beautiful, because no Khmer Khmer Thai copy.

  • @tonnum53 khmer coppy thai palace and thai dance

  • @usaguru1 Stop spinach network of Thai culture. Khmer stupid

  • @tonnum53 . You are so stupid. I'm not going to waste my time.

  • @tonnum53 Ayudhya invaded Angkor, Khmer capital, and stole everything from Khmer. Even your king adopted Khmer royal language and costumes, styles and the concept of god king, devaraja. Don't be so ignorant, be grateful. Khmer, Laos, and Vietnamese are not watching or copying your entertainment any more. We are watching Korean's so now you are going to cry that nobody wants to watch or copy your entertainment. Soon your other products/goods will only be good for Thais only.

  • @tonnum53 Exactly, after Siam invaded Khmer empire city at Angkor, 14xx and evacuated Khmer Brahmins, Khmer intellectual heritage, and artists to Ayudthya and began converting them to Siam and made them teach dances and other art forms in the Siam court. Devaraja/God king monarchy and other Hindu ritual were adopted by Siam court which Thai court still practice today. Early Ayudthya was bilingual Khmer and Siam. The oldest temple in Ayudthya contained Khmer scripts and sanskrit, no Thai.

  • Southeast Asia was a home of Khmer people, Thai were kicked out of Tailand in Nanchao by the Mongol and they became the slaves of Khmerpeople and they copied Khmer culture since then. Watch video on my channel Thai copied even Khmer Angkor Wat for Thai royal palace today.

  • @DangersMines This dance was born in the era after the Ayutthaya period. Stop spinach network of Thai culture.

  • @tonnum53

Burma destroyed Authaya in ruin nothing left. Your Thai politicians are in jail in Cambodia today because they stole Khmer culture.

  • combodia coppy thai royal danc

the rabam and khon original of royal siam thailand

  • Khon and rabao the original in siam Bangkokthailand thai classical dance khmer you coppy thaidance

  • @siamsweeds you are nothing but a dumb shit. you committed plagiarism without knowing it. and refused to accept it. The whole world know who you are and where you stand. don't try to be a smart ass. Be frank, be honest. take it like a man.

  • @whosyourdaddy117 E-Khmer version is not more stupid. The whole world he knows all the Thai culture. Stop spinach network of Thai culture. Stop copying Khmer stupid

  • it would be really wonderful if someone try to bring back the old khmer dance costumes.

  • Cambodia copy Siam The former king of Cambodia. (appointed by the king of Siam), Cambodia, when the king returned to Cambodia to Thailand to dance with. Copy, copy music, clothing, art, copy all of the corrected copy Siam Siam (Cambodia, but not beautiful copy.)

  • After reading past comment everytime I go to Khmer site there always complain n negative comments...why???It sad that these comment express the way we are in culture. I went to other Asian site n they all compliment each other rather than cut each other throat...

  • I recall Thai were group of villager from china n settle themselves in cambodia but they took the land from some isamic group which I can't remember their name n half of Cambodia. Since these people lost their land they settle their life in Cambodia until now. Furthermore, there were war going in Cambodia that is difficult for Khmer calm what was their while many were tried survive. As for now Khmer should forcus on future n protect what we have or the neighboring will steal from us. Lol...

  • Woah, this is wonderful video. I love the poses at 0:52, 1:39, and the last painting so much; it's just great poses. The music also great.

    Thank soooooo much for sharing.

  • 0:59-1:04 I remember that woman in this picture is the actress that was taken from Siam royal court to Cambodia since Cambodia king was home.

  • You coppy sayam Thailand

  • @tonnum53 trying not to argue here but actually cambodian didnt copy anything. but basically im trying to say both thai and khmer dance were influence by each other so there is basically now way we copied thai and thai copied khmer.

  • @tonnum53 What is so special about you and your people? To us, you're the enemies. No more, no less!

  • This is the Siam classical dance.Cambodia is a colony of Siam in 1432 c - 1867 c

  • @vevy1981 that maybe true but if you go further then that in that history cambodian was a bigger country and way before Thailand. During the khmer empire and no siam the tai were being pushed out by the chinese and came into the khmer empire then soon rebelled and formed Siam. I am not trying to argue but you gave an exact time but u need to go way way before that time. and history to be told said that when siam sacked angkor siam tooked the khmer dance troupe but i still believe both influence

  • Beautiful vid, thanks for the post. Peace.

  • About 100 years ago thai people went to Khmer to teach ''Ram Thai'' (Thai Dancing) into Khmer palace!!! Because of that Khmer have OUR culture. But now We have a problem between THailand and Khmer. You guy try to fuking play?? Try to say we stole ur culture? How can u dare saying...???????? Normally bad people usually do bad things!! I think u guys too.

ps.LMAO4real u r not half Thai, its just stupid joking to try to fake.haha

We never do sth like that!!!

    Go to learn history!! OK!!!

  • @tonnum53 i think you should get your facts straight before you start saying we khmer take your art, remember you guys never had any land during the Angkor period, you learned to read, write, play music like us, followed our hindu and bhuddism tradition, even our jong kraben clothings and such, its you that stole everything from us khmer, stop spreading false information

  • I wish all Cambodian peoples will see this documentary. So , all of us will remember how stronger we are in the past.

  • I love this music, I heard since I was child. Make me miss srok Khmer.

  • @khmerangkor1000 Oh you shut the fuck up. What do you mean let them face their own problem? You are fucking babling how much you love your own culture but you wont help your people who taking care these arts for your own country, are you losing your fucking mind? Please everyone that claim that they love these dances and other form of arts, help them. Send some money back to TheDance and Art school of Phanom Penh.

  • ok .. To all Cambodian lovers.. Please give out your money to support " the Dance and Art school of Phanom Penh". This fucking-Husen doesnt help out your belove arts at all. So shut the hell up and go help arts of your country before they will be vanished from this world.

  • @pranhu why are you so mad..! why you say something not to so nice. are you khmer.? if you are khmer , you need to shut up... let the khmer peoples in cambodai taking care of this problems and you need to stay out of this.

  • Wow, these videos/pictures are amazing, frozen in time. They go very well with the music, and invoke/awaken my deep emotion.

  • We Cambodian have a lot of idea of our ancestors. Have you ever visited our Sombor Prei Kuk Temple city? The Persian men statues carved on the stone wall there and our Khmer King Kampu came from Kambodja north of India where the origin of Persian and Iran. Thai were Tai people run away from Nanchao like refugees and we teach them to wear long sleeves clothes and adopted our culture.

  • @MusaboruOo

Khmer Empire reached its peak from Khmer Civilization to clothes. Khmer don't influence other cultures, Khmer owned Khmer culture since Khmer King Kaudinya from India married to Khmer Queen Soma as you can see the Khmer wedding clothes today that brought by Khmer King originated from India. Khmer armies on the stone wall wearing clothes and uniform. You can watch my video the greatest about Khmer Empire video so you can understand Khmer created Khmer Civilization for others in SEA.

  • @KhmerWarrior7 jsut so you know thai copy all khmer culture and even use khmer numbers til today..there thai writing is derived from khmer writing, thats why lots so similar..thai copy all khmer culture and many refuse to admit it...

  • @llHyRaXll

Thai refused to admit the truth and that's why Thai lost the case against Khmer at the ICJ and again Thai lost the case against Khmer at the UNESCO and Thai tried to use army aggressors against Khmer but Khmer always kicked Thai army aggressors back to their land.

  • We all the same no difference.. people of earth.. Lets try for peace! its 2010!..

  • Thank you for the message. Some people really need to relax here and enjoy our cultures for what they are.

  • @JuiCfingaz Yes.

  • You can imagine what you want, but that's the art of civilization. Even if you want to, you still cannot deny the dynamics of cultural exchange especially under the colonial relationship. It would sound most unnatural to say that Siam only gained from Kampuchea.

  • Now, Kampuchea does not stand alone in the universe. You cannot say that Cambodian culture has remained unchanged after years of Siamese occupation. The courtiers of Angkor first taught us the art of dancing (this is included in every Thai school textbook), but the Siamese toned it down, making it somewhat slower. Under Siamese occupation, the Cambodians definitely integrated these from the Siamese as much as the Siamese who transported what they learned from Cambodia back home.

  • @stty221 all at this time...thank you for you admited that thais had adopt from khmer culture....

  • However, when it comes to classical dancing, you cannot just say that Cambodian style is free from foreign influences. It's true that Thai dancing took a lot from Khmer, but you cannot disregard the importance of Indian, Javanese, and Mon influences. Also, you cannot disregard the creativity of Siamese dancers and courtesans who developed foreign influences into a distinctive dancing style. I'm saying that there's something unique about Thai dancing after all these development.

  • Okay, Cambodians. You say Thai people are this and that without ever knowing anybody from Thailand. You only know Thailand from your corrupted ministers and their shitty media. Tell you what, we all know the glory of ancient Angkor and nobody's gonna claim it from you. Our textbooks acknowledges ancient Khmer as the origin of a number of our cultural artifacts. Some stupid Thais might claim it the other way round but those with at least an elementary degree will definitely speak my tune.

  • you know you stupid i watch all history you thought i dont know i even watch the movie about cambodia vs thai well they copy our culture dance and movie so why you say thai have the same culture as us.

  • well i guess ppl have there own opinion as for me i dont hate hun sen if you havnt notice he's been helping alot out for the community in a lot of cities in cambodia...

  • we had a great king that build a beautiful temple thats still standing

  • ....And you had great killers too .. If you love your country so much .. go kick that guy for me, could you? His name is Hun sen .. Could you tell him to stop sucking blood from cambodian people? Tell him to share his wealth to poor beggers at the the Ankor Wat ..

  • you dont know your history.....cmon your khmer....of course we build it we were the Architect master mind to build suck a great watt......did you not read what i said that the thais were slaves

  • thai ppl dont realize even tho during the ancient times they were slaves to built the angkor wat king jay varamon the 7th made full rice feild for them to servive n have homes n familys......thai ppl came from khmer ppl so in reality thai laos are cambodian blood

  • Why can't we all just get along.

  • cuz tai is always jealous.

Its all Khmer but those tai fags want full credit like always.

    Khmer ancient instruments

    tai copied all

  • Ancient Cambodian dances were much more acrobatic alike. The dancers were more flexible. Accompany musical instruments were much different from current -what we have. Vertical harp is one of extinct instrument that no longer performing in Cambodian. I think you could go look for your self what are the ancient Cambodians instruments. Bow instruments were relatively new to south east Asia. I'm pretty sure .. you wont find any type bow instruments at the mural of angor wat.

  • What do you have to prove your assumption beside that you haven't found or rather haven't looked through all the relief and found a bow instrument yet? Khmer courts used many instrument and many have been 'extinct' now, or come close to extinction in its use, the harp as you mention is one of them, but did you know the Khmer also use a one string pluck instrument, looks like a tro. If by bow instrument you mean things like Violin, then it's true, very recent to SE, but Tros are not new to SE.

  • I think we should bring bac the old khmer robam costumes

  • I don't like the makeup. It's weird

  • beautiful photos...loved it!

  • The Beautiful, peaceful.. have shown from this Video... what ever it from.. But it is the human being all kinds of this can be created only when we have peace mind.. I hope everyone understand about the art well.. not just fighting to clime where from.. Proud for been here and create something new for our next generation to proud of!!! Rasmey

    Khmer Boy

  • Lastly, I wish Cambodians should be more humble of their culture. being arrogant only brings them disrespecta feeling from other neighbore countries. I just want to remind them that ..( of couse) we all think our culture is better than one another. it s a human nature. If you have an angel mind, you will not think of your self better than any one else, and you will want to share all goods with others. Dont make a mistake agian Cambodians.

  • why .. can we all intergrat .. as Balle dance in Europe .. there is no distinctive between russian or german or english or french balle dance.. .. why can we intergrat Lao, Thai, Kambodian, burmese classical together.. and then call South East classical dance.? why do we have to argue. let share these beautiful culture. 90% of people that made comments on here .. dont even know how to dance but know how to fight .. that s great.. what do you think?

  • Because Cambodia classical dance is very distinct and much more elegant than the neighboring countries. Also, the so called "South East" classical dance all originated in Cambodia.

  • Arrogant.

  • Yeah, but he's right though....

  • Are you sure? Mon people used to have their culture in central of thailand as well. Thais has learned many dance, music and culture. Thai culture is defined by Mon, Cambodia and India. Cambodians need to give credit to Srivishai. dont forget.. Cambodia used to occupy by Srivishai. Perhaps, all those dance and music came from Indonesia.

  • Mon and Khmer are family.

If Thai learn from Mon, Thai still learn from Khmer.

The Khmer Kings were originated Indian, Khmer owned Indian and Khmer owned Mon.

  • I dint say.. thai dint learn many stuff from Khmer.. duh!..

  • You didn't say Thais learn from Khmer.

Besides, the Khmer King Jayavaraman II came from Indonesia where the Sailendra, the descendant of Khmer Funan. So King Jayavarman II was a Funan of the Sailandra of Indonesia.

  • Maybe the other way around, Cambodia classical's influence reached Indonesia during the expansion of the Khmer empire.

  • Show the evidents before you speak out. almost as if .. thai said .. we influnced your dance .. ha.. how it s that sound..

  • Many researches done by foreigners prove this and Khmer's empire extended to cover Thailand and reached Malaysia and Indonesia and there are plenty of Khmer artifacts dated 1st AD-14th AD including inscriptions, ancient temples, stone carvings. Thai's history started in the 13th cent AD and ist first capital was Sokhuthia. You could say Thai's fluenced Khmer's dance but too. That is your opinions.

  • Its also been proven that Thai influenced Khmer dance. Even HM Norodom Sihanouk admitted that we received influence from Thai in an old interview. Don't be ashamed, its ok to be infleunced from your neighbor.

  • No, it is not ashamed if it is a fact. But the dance originated from Khmer because when Thai sacked Angkor Wat in the 13 cent AD, they captured Khmer artists and intellectuals and took them to Ayudthya and made them teach the skills in the Thai's royal court. That is why Khmer dance, music, play and drama are very similar to Khmer's. Even a Thai researcher, a son of formal prime minister, admitted this but it was rejected by Thai politicians and some educators.

  • That is why Thai and Khmer dances are similar.

  • I've never heard Sihanouk saying we received influence from Thai, but I only heard Sihanouk saying that Thailand should thanks to Khmer people and the Khmer Kings that Thailand today has beautiful Khmer temples and Khmer culture in Thailand.

For me Thai culture is Khmer culture because Thai tonal speaking is from China, so Thai culture must look like Chinese, if Thai culture looks like Khmer, its Khmer culture.

  • @MusaboruOo you are right! but not all khmer think like you

  • Burmese admitted that their dances were influenced by Thai culture. Nonetheless, i don't find much similarity comparing to Thai and Burmese dance. Burmese also have the dance call Yodia ( how Burmese called Ayodaya) dance, i don't think Ayodaya people were dancing like that. One part of the dance, the dancer were jumping..Vice versus, i don't think ancient Cambodians were dancing similarly to- now a day- Thai classical dance. i hope you get the idea..

  • Just like Khmer temples are standing elegant in south east asia.

  • i agree with you but als owith prahu, we can said the southeast dance but pls give credit with Cambodia as the origins.

  • that is the way to go .. thank god .. there is an open minded Cambodian person. Likewise, In japan .. they do not hesitate to tell the world that .. original or their dance and music came from china .. and Chinese people do not stuck up about it ..Please do so . Cambodians..

  • yes, someone begin a persone should be that open mind but not so strong tobe under another.

  • I LOVE KHMER PEOPLE AND CULTURE.

  • I think this video is interesting. The old classical dance dress of our Khmer may look similar to Thai classical dance dress. I know everyone knows why. Thanks for sharing!

  • Because Cambodia was under Siam's influence

  • they should try to recreate these like Arponrngam Theatre has done with classical Thai costume

  • Thai costume is derived Khmer costume.

  • Yeah I know who said anything about Khmer costumes NOT being derived from Khmer style. I am saying just like Arpornngam Theathre has recreated the classical form of the costume, Cambodia should also try to bring back the classical form which I personally find much more attractive.

  • lol

  • mmmhm ! ^ ^

  • I'm amazing to see Khmer people today still in the classical dress for the wedding ceremony and for the other Khmer ceremony.

  • where can i download the mp3 of this theme song

  • the website

  • Which address or link?

  • How wonderful world ! Im pride to b Khmere Angkor !

  • Interesting and sometimes esoteric sense of humor. May I ask where you got access to these photographs? Some of them were absolutely striking.
