Lyoto may have a blackbelt in Judo but he definitely only really uses the karate takedowns. not to say that he doesn't "use Judo." ... "Using judo" doesn't mean to use a judo technique it means to apply minimal effort for maximum efficiency. which machida does very well. his takedowns are nearly always perfect karate takedowns, which I'm sure is aided in his experience in a martial art such as judo.

Lol GSP's flying kick kicks' lyoto's flying kick in the nuts. I love lyoto, seriously, great great fighter but that flying kick at the start had like NOOO elevation JAJAJAJAJA...he almost got injured and shit

no he trains witha judo guy it doesnt mean he uses judo. if he did thered be at least one hip toss in at least one of his fights. infact he trains with muay thai guys to. the point of this is to learn how to use Karate striking and grappling technnique on the level of a judoka or muay thai. His sweeps are standard shotokan, its shown in a video comparing him to two shotokan guy. not to mention iv been taught the sweeps in my karate lessons. just admit it he DOES karate and uses it well in MMA

The Judo guy still showed him how to defend against throws. In some ways working out with a Judoka is just like taking Judo. The affect on you is the same.

his stance is karate to and so is his kicks he doesnt step like muy thai. he uses more karate than anything its called mma for a reason

i agree veryone tries to use the fact that he is a judo and BJJ black belt to take away from his utilization of karate its rather patheitc as if theyre afraid of the TMA styles returning

yes he has some judo throws (any fighter does) most of his stuff is karate.
