Steel guitar is such a cool instrument. Great job! I've never really been into country music, but I recall watching The Barbara Mandrell Show when I was a little kid. She was the first person I ever saw play steel guitar. There's a great vid of her playing this song (search Barbara Mandrell - Steel Guitar Rag). Very cool!
ok guys i need to get some names so i can buy cd with this kind of music on , can you email me with some suggestions ....bannk666@gmail.com...... love the music . Bev
truly a great steel player i play the guitar with you guys and i have inproved 200% just by doing that i want to thank all the steel players out there tom
I'm just starting to learn it on Lap Steel - basically it's easy. But all those turnarounds and little licks you put in here and there are what makes it really that special. Hats off man, good job.
I love this I have listen to it more than once , My family is all bluegress I love the Steel thanks for playing it and sharing it I would love to here Nashville Pm
love anything steel.....could you do a cover of "Lara's Theme" aka "Somewhere my Love" from the movie Dr. Zhivago....I heard Buddy Emmons do it at a steel players convention and fell in love with the song.
Thanks ! my Mom just loves the steel. You are so correct if there is any Steel in the new stuff they usually bury it way back in the mix. I loved the old stuff where it was out front.
Hey guys, i am a drummer. Been playing for almost 7 years. Never played any guitar, but would love to learn this instrument. Any suggestions in where do i start? Should i buy one without pedals or with? Or may be learn reg guitar at first?(i am very impatient in music, would love to jump on steel guitar right away)
I would get a pedal steel and be ready for a bumpy ride there is a lot going on to learn. Today there is instruction on the web and tons of great instruction for sale. This wasn't the case 30 years ago !
awesome playing man. sounds great. that run on 1.09 was awesome. ive got my friend's steel but it doesnt have pedals. you just play it on your lap. i would love to learn how to play it properly but my main problem is that i play guitar and bass left handed upside down and i dont think those pedals are moveable?? for me to play that i have to play facing you if you get my drift...lol. but once again great playing
Thanks, If you've never played a steel I would go ahead and try to learn it the normal way even if I was left handed. I Think you would be surprised how fast you would progress since it all would be new. There are left handed steels with everything reversed, but they are custom not so readily available.
that was great how long have you been play steel i wanna learn myself but im scared if i buy this old emmons im looking at then i won't beable to play. i play flattop and a fender etc. guitar for now. thing only thing i wish you would do is turn the reverb on the amp just two more click's other than that a great sound buddy.
Thanks, If you play guitar the steel won't be as hard to learn. Still takes a while to get the hang of, but that's true with all instruments. I've been playing steel for about 30 years.
I have it on LP, haven't found it anywhere on CD or cassette. Now have USB turntable so will hunt the album up and copy it. Then just have to figure out how to get it to you! :) Happy New Year!
LOL, with playing like yours, I don't think so. I have this in my favourites. Sure wish buffering on youtube was better though. So, are you going to do Play Your Steel Guitar For Me, by Caroll Baker? That one goes straight to the soul. Merry Christmas!
Well that does it for me, I have played a lot of guitars over the years but never the Pedal Steel. This Video has convinced me to go out get one and learn it.
I started playing this when I was 18 over the years just added a few things here and there never have had any tab or instruction for this one. Thanks !
