this game is like those hidden gems that get pushed away by "bigger" titles like call of duty and so on, if those were not there then who knows, maybe this would be like the big deal of pc gaming?
@CherokeeJohnny6 Cos it's only for windows vista and seven and (i think) the majority of people have windows XP! Fuck direct X 10 only for vista/seven D,X
@xBonderx I have Windows 7 and DirectX 10 capability and I love the way the game looks, but there's no reason for the developers to keep away from XP. Some visual effects may be slightly less amazing, but there's nothing wrong with making your game more technically accessible. Keeping it inside the niche who can afford fantastical graphics cards and the newest software was a bad idea, in my opinion.
@xBonderx I don't see why they couldn't have just made the engine for DX9 as well though. Metro 2033 supports DX9, DX10, and DX11. Why couldn't they have just made the base slightly less advanced and then added extra options for people with better equipment?
And please, point me to this card you mention. I have a 512MB ATi Radeon HD4870 with DX10 support. It cost me roughly $200 I think.
@xBonderx I realize that it's "what they do," but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. Crytek could easily make Crysis 2 a DX10/11 exclusive and still have massive commercial success, but they're making the most out of their opportunities and optimizing the fuck out of it for consoles and making it DX9-compatible. Why shouldn't a much less fiscally successful (at least in the games industry) company like Futuremark do the same for more customers?
@xBonderx And I figured you were talking about a really simple card like that. Sure, it can process DX11, but I highly doubt that it would be able to run a graphics-intensive DX11 game that well (which is what you want out of something that can process DX11: really fuckin good graphics).
Maybe you have an old shitbox of a car, say a neglected Pinto, and some nutjob mechanic gives it anti-lock breaks. It's still an ancient vehicle that explodes and isn't that good otherwise.
yea i get it, but again, if all you do is upgrade to this 40 dollar card, you -could- play. its not that hard to have specs to play this game. dx10 card is not that hard to come by.
@CherokeeJohnny6 Because even computers that can play Crysis can't play Shattered Horizon. Crying shame, as it is probably the most awesome game in the known universe.
the soldier really looks like s aprtan.. good tunes though

@leewolfgang its a directx10 engine.
so it would be a different game if they changed the engine for dx9
niche? fantastical graphics cards? newest software? you can get a 5450 series card that is dx10 AND dx11 for 39 dollars

@leewolfgang the company that made the game runs benchmarks in dx10, thats like, what they do, the game was an (awesome) by-product
newegg (dot) (com) /Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125358&cm_re=ati_5450-_-14-125-358-_-Product
or just newegg search 5450, im sure its not a great card but it can run dx10/ dx11, so you just run low settings.
low, low , low settings..
