  • I'm sure your making money hand over fist but you've killed a historic land mark.

    It's a real shame.

By the way, I still own that magnificent sign that used to swing from wrought iron under the veranda. That is one piece of the Old Lion that will never die or succumb to the greed of developers.

Long live the Old Lion - You will forever be in our hearts and when I raise a glass of it's old rival Coopers Sparkling Ale, I shall silently pay homage to W.H. Beaglehole and his foresight.

  • Or, you could go outside to the beer garden, get a great meal around the old vine, or mix it with the locals and shoot some pool in the corner bar!!!!

And did I mention the ales???? Lion light and the most densely packed flavorsome stingo!!! I've traveled to over 20 countries hunting for a similar flavor and nothing has come close.

The new bar and lion sucks....full of posers and people more interested in profit and appearance than substance and history.

  • That just breaks my fucking heart. The Old Lion was an Adelaide treasure, oozing class and attracting some great characters. Listen to the piano man on the opposite side of the naked fat lady, open log fire burning, go next door and marvel at the brewery, drink the worlds best oatmeal stout, watch live boxing, see Tone-loc or Ice-T perform, go downstairs to the night club, next door to a bar where all the TV execs drank, or just lounge in the leather lounges in the tunnels?
