Reagan got the highest income tax rate down from the 68-70% area to 35%. That was good. I don't know how instrumental he was in bringing down the Soviet Union.
He was big on military spending so I guess he gets SOME credit for the latter aforementioned. Whatever Reagans shortcomings may have been, he seemed genuinely like he gave a shit about everybody. Big deficit spender for sure but compared to Bush, and I'm a Repub/Libertarian, he was a good president.Clinton too. I sound like a Liberal!

well soviets bankrupted themselves during afgan war but we did fund the afgans. russians trying to keep up with star wars also didn't help them either.

I'm a liberal, but have actually MET Reagan, shook his hand. He was right on the money and a soul-mate of JFK, another ultra conservative. When more people of this country realize there is no discrepancy between these two great leaders, we'll finally be on the right track.

reminds me of the day the rescuers from the pentagon came back to their base after 9/11, something like 2 weeks later. their base was literally across from our school so we lined the road & waited for them, armed with the flags we found in our lockers when we got back after 9/11... chanting USA! USA!... everyone was so patriotic & together.
look at us now.
