  • There is one flaw I see with the single core and that is as you increase wire gauge to reduce resistance to increase damping factor you also increase skin effect which is the effect of high frequency signals propagating to the outer edge of the conductor where there is less heat/resistance and also contributing to phase distortions. I prefer to have my amps as close to the loudspeaker as possible thereby allowing a smaller gauge wire to be used without increasing resistance.

  • This is true and if you find that you prefer phase distortion to frequency separation, then kudos! It's best that each stereo owner check and compare for themselves, we find that a lot of people aren't pushing enough energy to even hear skin effect.

  • Also i would like to ask wich of the frequencies can be affected if you use the one core cable is it the lows or the highs and wich for you are better to use for an amp made with tubes?

  • nice to know, thanks!!

  • so this types of cable will be kind of a compressor for my speaker in a matter of some of the frecuencies (sorry my english?

  • Yes, stranded cable can cause a driver to skip or distort some of the audio frequencies.
