well its not the grim reaper. its more of a soul colletor. it cant be the gri, reaper because at one point of the book they said they thought the idea of the grim reaper and sythe is funny.

from what I could gather from the book, he is a reaper but he just looks normal, he does say that the scythe and the skeleton form was funny but he says he still wears the black robes but only when it's cold.
